Is Puerto de la Cruz a good place to visit with small children?

Loro Parque is Tenerife’s most popular wildlife centre. Situated on the outskirts of Puerto de la Cruz it is home to the largest parrot collection in the world and the biggest dolphinarium in Europe. You’ll also find gorillas, jaguars and tigers. The latest additions are penguin island and the Orca Ocean featuring four killer whales that were born at SeaWorld, USA. Throughout the day there are parrot, dolphin and sea lion shows. Perhaps the most impressive feature of the park is the aquarium where you can view some of the 20,000 marine animals, including large sharks, through a sub-aquatic Plexiglas tunnel. The park has many restaurants and shops. Loro Parque is open every day of the year from 8:30am to 5:00pm, and for those on holiday in Puerto de la Cruz a free “road train” operates every 20 minutes from the Playa Martianez in the centre of the resort.

Some child-friendly hotels include Hotel Botanico, Casablanca apartments, Bahia Principe San Felipe and H10 Tenerife Playa.
