Calgary is beautiful in winter with many activities to enjoy. A Canada Signature Experience, WinSport is one of the most well-known spot in the city, having hosted the 1988 Winter Games in Calgary. There visitors can figure skate, take a ride on the bobsled or luge track, ski, snowboard, or slide down the hill on a tube. Away from WinSport visitors can also take in the river valley and downtown via 95 km of trails to walks, snowshoe, or ride fat bikes on.
Standing over 600 feet above the downtown core, the Calgary Tower is an icon in the city's skyline. With the highest 360˚ observation deck in the world, the panoramic city view is an experience above the rest. For the adventure seekers, step out onto the glass observation deck and look down at the streets below for a true thrill. 2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the Calgary Tower, so come and discover Calgary’s crown jewel during its Golden Jubilee.
Every July, the Calgary Stampede distils more than a century of western heritage into ten unforgettable action-packed days of music, food, excitement, and the very best of western hospitality. The whole party kicks off with a colourful street parade and ends with a huge Grandstand show featuring singing, dancing and plenty of fireworks. In between, you'll get to watch expert rodeo riders, bucking broncos, barrel racing and, championship chuck wagon racing. The whole city joins in the spirit of the stampede, from pancake breakfasts to plenty of cowboy hats. This is one festival not to be missed!

Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre, celebrates the Canadian music story. Summer in Calgary tends to be warm and dry with glorious skies and balmy evening temperatures. It doesn’t really get dark until around 10pm, which gives the city a wonderful outdoor atmosphere and feel. During the winter, temperatures cool and the snowfall creates new opportunities to skate, ski and sled in and around the city. Calgary experiences chinook winds that can change the temperature from -20˚ to +20˚ from morning to afternoon! With more sunshine hours than any other major city in Canada, Calgary is an all season destination. Don't forget to pack your sunglasses!
