Vilamoura – Weather
With an inviting Mediterranean climate, you’re almost guaranteed year-round sunshine and warmth when you travel to Vilamoura. In summer, the weather really takes off and you can expect daily temperatures of 24°C. August is one of the hottest months with highs of 30°C around midday. From 12pm to 3pm, UV levels are quite high so try and stay out of the sun if you can and wear high-factor sun protection. July and August are the best months for swimming in the sea as the water temperature is a mild 21°C.
Sunshine hours depend on the season. The summer gets the most sunshine with up to 12 hours per day that gradually lowers to nine in October and November. Winter weather in Vilamoura is quite cloudy at times, which is one of the reasons why there’s just six hours of daily sunshine between December and January. When spring arrives, you can look forward to around ten hours of sunlight each day.
Vilamoura weather is relatively dry for most of the year with just 1mm of rain in July and 8mm in June and August. It gets a lot wetter in autumn, with a monthly average of 86mm in November and up to 78mm in January.
