Jardim do Vau

Jardim do Vau is a beachfront apartment hotel in Portimao, on the Algarve in Portugal. You can walk through the hotel's mature gardens to Praia do Vau, a sandy beach with a backdrop of sheltering cliffs. The hotel has three outdoor swimming pools, including a smaller, shallow one for young children. The pools are surrounded by sun terraces lined with palm trees. You can choose a sunny or shaded seat and relax with a good book. Inside the hotel there's an indoor swimming pool and a heated whirlpool. If you're feeling active, you can work out in the hotel's gym. Jardim do Vau's restaurant offers a wide selection of dishes, including local Portuguese specialities, and there's a cocktail bar open in the evenings. The beach at Praia do Vau is popular with families and you can swim and explore the natural rock pools. West along the beach you'll find the cove of Praia do Barranco das Canas, where you can swim and snorkel. Portugal is renowned for its golf courses, and keen golfers can take advantage of the 18-hole Alto Golf Course. It's a short walk from the hotel, and you can hire golfing equipment. The resort town of Portim„o is a short drive away, or you can take a day trip to historic Faro.

The centre of Praia da Rocha is 1.5km from Jardim do Vau. There's a broad, sandy beach and Avenida Tom·s Cabreira is lined with shops, bars and cafes. You can stroll around the marina with its choice of waterfront restaurants. The harbour city of Portimao is 2.5km away. It has historic streets and squares and offers plenty of places to shop, eat and drink. As it's a fishing port, look out for restaurants specialising in locally caught seafood. You can walk along the promenade by the marina, a popular spot during the day and in the evening, or take a boat trip along the Portimao and Alvor coast.

The hotel restaurant offers Portuguese and international cuisine. You can enjoy a continental breakfast buffet, and there's an a la carte menu for lunch and dinner. There's also a cocktail bar where you can relax in the evenings. If you want to prepare your own meals in your apartment, there's a mini market on site.

If you're feeling active, you can play table tennis or join in a game of beach volleyball. There's a kids' club for children aged 3-10.
