When it comes to unwinding, Alma Verde resort has peaceful family holidays down to a tee. From relaxing stays in your own private eco-friendly villa to sweeping views of the unspoiled Algarve countryside and a tempting list of spa treatments begging you to take a break. And with the beach a short drive away and a play park kitted out with swings and slides, your mini holidaymakers will be just as excited.
The inviting interior is captured beautifully in these photos. From the polished granite worktops to the large wooden dining table, everything here feels elegant and considered. Our super spacious property is big enough for the whole family. Yes, even the grandparents can tag along (perfect for when you need a night off) and if you want your very own playroom/study then Villa Amalia is an idyllic base.
You don’t need to worry about packing the whole house up either. Our baby and toddler essential kit offers so much more than your standard cot and highchair. We’re talking stair gates for toddling tots, a steriliser for newborns toys to entertain your restless rugrats. And if your baby is busy fine-tuning their motor skills (by grabbing everything in sight), you can breathe a sigh of relief knowing all our properties have been through a thorough 30-point safety check.
Style-wise, you’ll be greeted by an open-plan living and dining area with a mix of traditional Algarve and contemporary inspired decor. An ideal space for colouring in, stacking cups and movie nights sprawled out on the sofa. Over in the kitchen, pristine granite worktops and a modern oven invite you to whip up your kids' favourite homemade dishes. And our hand blenders, highchairs and plastic cutlery will come in useful for weaning tots.
The bathrooms are not only stylish, but practical with non-slip mats, toys and a potty at your disposal. You'll also find that all-important bedtime book within our toy box ensuring a fuss-free night time routine away from home. Speaking of beds, your tiny travellers won’t be rolling out of them thanks to our safety guards. As for you, there’s a plush double number providing a good night’s rest with plenty of room for co-sleeping snuggles.
Beautiful french doors lead you outside to an enclosed garden with perfectly manicured lawns and a shaded outdoor seating area. But the real highlight is the barriered private pool! The pool at Villa Amalia, is secured with a removable child safety net and accessorised with loungers, it’s easy to keep an eye on your mini swimmers while basking in the Portuguese heat. When you need to cool off, you can take advantage of our environmentally friendly ‘Coolhouse’ system, leaving your villa at just the right temperature without the need for air-conditioning.
For mini humans wanting to burn off some energy in the village there’s an enclosed outdoor play area where they can climb, slide and hopscotch. Or, you can always check out the mini football pitch for some five-a-side fun. Parents can also blow off some steam at the fully-equipped fitness suite and tennis club. And when that ‘me-time’ is calling, find heated ceramic loungers, hydrotherapy massages and a Relaxarium over at the spa.
We know that all that running about can work up an appetite, but don’t worry we’ve got your culinary cravings covered. The restaurant in the local town dishes out everything from local delights such as dried and salted codfish (bacalhau) to international favourites pleasing even the pickiest of eaters.
Located about an hour from Faro airport, a hire car is a must! Not only is it the easiest way to reach Alma Verde, but it gives you the flexibility to come and go as you please. Meaning more time at big-name highlights such as Costa Vicentina National Park and Praia de Luz where you can go dolphin watching, ride a banana boat or discover the local cuisine. Lagos is only 20 minutes away when you fancy racing the family on go-karts or wandering the zoo. And its flawless five-kilometre-long stretch is perfect for picnics, paddling and sandcastle building. Meanwhile, the toe-sinking sands of Burgau and its beach bar lie just five minutes down the road.
Our team has also personally inspected this apartment to highlight any areas that will need additional parental supervision, aka, our 'Parent Points'.
Parent points:
•The open tread staircase and banister design in the hall could encourage children to climb. There is a child safety gate across the doorway to the living areas to prevent access to the hallway and the stairs to the roof terrace are gated at the bottom. An extra gate is provided for the top if required.
•Children should only be allowed on the roof terrace when supervised by an adult.
