Exceptional hotel in Essaouira!
My stay in Essaouira was amazing thanks to my experience in this hotel. First of all, the location is perfect - by the beach but also very close to the medina, it’s the best! The rooms were very spacious and clean, the amenities of great quality (the indoor pool ♥️) and the breakfast refined and generous. But above all I enjoyed the excellent service during my stay. Special thanks to Youssef for his friendliness and his exceptional and personalised advice which made all the difference! I definitely recommend to stay here while in Essaouira!
Not quite 5 star
We’ve been in Morocco for about two weeks, staying at various hotels throughout the country. This was a nice hotel, with some good amenities, but to be a five-star hotel, the hotel needs to be in tip-top shape with five-star service and appeal. Let me start with the positives. The room was fine. There was a generous amount of closet space that allowed both my husband and me to have our own closets. The solid wood furniture was a pretty addition to the room . There were pretty room darkening curtains. The toilet was in a separate room from the shower/sink area. We had a room with a balcony that overlooked the swimming pool, which was lovely. The bed was comfortable. Overall the room was comfortable as well. As for amenities, the hotel had a gym, an indoor hot tub, and a breakfast buffet with a generous amount of food. Guests could eat indoors or outdoors. The outdoor pool was large with a generously sized patio with padded loungers. The hotel had a restaurant across the street. The location is excellent, across the street from the beach. We ate at the hotel’s restaurant yesterday and found their food and service to be excellent. You can continue to use the hotel’s WiFi while you are in their restaurant. Now for the negatives. When we first arrived at our room, my husband lay down to take a nap. Shortly after that, someone came knocking at our door. This person did not even wait until we answered the door. She just walked in. We never figured that we would see anyone coming to our room so soon after our arrival, so we did not have a “do not disturb” on the door. In any case, this person who just walked right in should not have assumed that nobody was in the room. The purpose of the knock is to ask for permission to enter, not to tell you that someone is entering. Guests who have just arrived at a hotel are most likely tired, and do not want to be bothered. Everyone’s shower preferences are different, I’m sure. I personally don’t like a bathtub/shower combination as they had in the bathroom. I’m also not a fan of the lack of a full enclosure for the shower, although this seems to be the norm here in Morocco as I’ve seen in some places in Europe. Every time I see one I wonder why it’s not fully enclosed to keep water from splashing out. Also, the bathroom needs to be updated. It’s tired looking. The shower handle fell off when I finished my shower. There was an very unpleasant smell in hotel, especially in the lobby. I asked an employee what the smell was and he pointed to an electric “fragrance” diffuser. My goodness. They need to get rid of that thing. The hotel was okay for a couple of nights. How much you like it will depend upon what types of hotels are used to staying in.
