Grand Hotel Excelsior

Located in Malta’s capital, Grand Hotel Excelsior is a 5 star hotel, boasting fantastic views across the bay towards Sliema and Manoel Island. In the evening Admiral’s Landing offers themed buffets, so one night you could be tucking into Maltese favourites and the next it could be Middle Eastern.

The Tiki Bar & Restaurant provides poolside seating for your al fresco meal or drink. On the menu you’ll find grilled meat and fish, as well as delicious pasta dishes. The Lobby Bar provides a further place to relax with a drink. Here, Afternoon Tea is served where you may choose to go for the British tradition of scones with cream and jam, accompanied by a cup of tea. In the evening a singer, pianist or musician performs.

Classic rooms are a generous 33-38m2 and include a sofa and bathtub, as well as either a king size bed or two singles. Upgrading to a Deluxe or Superior means you’ll get your own private balcony. Rooms with an inland view overlook the 16th century bastion walls.

Valletta’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is within walking distance of Grand Hotel Excelsior. Don’t miss the 16th century St John's Co-Cathedral, the Grandmaster’s Palace and the National Museum of Archeology. You’ll be just across the bay from Sliema, with its 17th century watchtower and 18th century fort. It can be accessed via a short ferry hop or 5km drive. A 45-minute ferry journey will take you to the neighbouring island of Gozo. The dramatic cliffs, coves and caves makes it a hiker’s paradise.
