Like the rest of Italy, Sicily currency is the Euro. It’s straight-forward to change money when you arrive here, but you may find you’ll pay eye-wateringly high rates of commission, especially if you change your money at the airport. Many prefer to exchange some of their money before they leave, so they are ready to enjoy the excitement of Sicily from the get-go. It’s handy to have the cash for taxis or tips when you arrive, as well as that first delicious arancini or glass of Donnafugata Brut.

We know you want to get started on your Sicily holiday straight away, so we’ve made it easy to order Euros. You can arrange to have them delivered to home (it’s free on orders over £500) or you may prefer our reserve and collect service, which locks in the exchange rate, so you can make the most of a good deal. Euros are usually available on the same day too, so it’s simple to get Sicily currency as part of your last-minute holiday shop.

If you like to use a mix of cash and card while you’re away, you’ll find ATMs are in most holiday resorts and towns. Major cards are accepted in tourist restaurants and shops, but cash is often preferred. If you plan to use your regular bank card, do let your bank know you’re travelling, so they don’t flag up any transactions as suspicious. Be sure to ask them about fees for transactions abroad, too. These hidden charges can be quite high and are a bit of a shock if you’re not expecting them. A useful alternative is a pre-paid travel card, such as Lyk, which works like a regular card, but there’s no fee for purchases, and a flat rate for cash withdrawals makes it easy to keep track of the cost of currency in Sicily.

We’ve got over 175 years’ experience in helping holidays go smoothly, so if you have any questions about currency in Sicily, or want to place an order, get in touch or pop into any branch, and we’ll be delighted to help you.
