Diana Roof Garden

This 4-star hotel in central Rome has a rare feature - a furnished rooftop garden offering picturesque views over the historic city, an ideal place to spend an evening with a drink. Being just 200 yards from Termini station, the location is ideal for the airport and the city’s many attractions including ones outside the city centre, such as the large archaeological site at Ostia Antica.

The hotel’s restaurant offers Roman cuisine for dinner, so if you’re ordering pizza expect thin and crispy bases, rather than thick Neapolitan-style bases. If you choose pasta then maybe they’ll be some Pecorino Romano sprinkled over the top. Enjoy a homemade Cantuccini biscuit with your coffee, while partaking in the included buffet breakfast. Guests who require gluten-free food are also catered for.

The elegant rooms, with their traditional design, feature a minibar, a TV with satellite and pay-per-view channels, wifi and a safe. For larger groups and families there are triple and family options.

Check-in is from 1pm, making this hotel an ideal choice for holidaymakers arriving in Rome during the morning. For those not departing until the evening baggage storage is available. The reception desk is manned 24/7 and the concierges are on hand for booking tickets or taxis and arranging tours of the city.

In the immediate vicinity of the hotel there are a number of parks, convenience stores, cafes, restaurants and numerous churches - the city has around 900 in total! Palazzo Massimo and Fountain of the Naiads are both just a short walk away. The latter is next to Repubblica Metro station on line A, which serves the Spanish Steps, Villa Borghese and the Vatican.

Sleep Quality

Clean, comfortable and good for coeliacs

Jun 2022 | 746philippac

We stayed here for one night in June. We had booked a double room and were initially put in a family room with a double room, twin room and two bathrooms! Great to have the extra space but we soon realised the air conditioning wasn't working so had to ask to be moved, which the hotel did arrange for us quickly. Whilst a bit tired in places the rooms were decorated beautifully and came with a free minibar (bottles of water, a can of pepsi and packet of crisps). Breakfast was pretty good. I have coeliac disease and the gluten free options were clearly marked. It was self-service so there's a slight risk of cross contamination but the serving tongs were kept separate from gluten-containing ingredients so the risk was low. Note that if someone was was vegetarian they would be affected by cross-contamination as the bacon tongs were kept right next to the spoon for the eggs (which were sadly cold). Gluten free options included bacon, eggs, fruit, yoghurt etc. I didn't ask about gluten free bread as there were plenty of other options.

Pleasant stay but wouldn’t return

Had a pleasant stay at this hotel. It’s about a 5 minute walk from Termini Station, however if we return to Rome we’d prefer to stay closer to the old town. The room was lovely - clean and spacious, however I’ve knocked a couple of stars off as the staff there, particularly those at reception and in the breakfast room, were so unfriendly and had a lack of courtesy, which was disappointing. We were made to feel quite unwelcome - a simple smile can go a long way!!

Great location

We arrived Friday lunchtime and stayed until Sunday. The staff were friendly on arrival. I had an issue with the safe not unlocking and someone came to fix it immediately. The room was basic but very clean and it was cleaned again on the Saturday and towels changed. The room was cool which was nice after being in 30degree heat all day. The room had a free to use safe, a fridge with water and soft drink, kettle with tea/coffee making facilities, tv, hairdryer in bathroom along with soap, shower gel and shampoo and a balcony which overlooked another building but we didn’t mind as we were barely in the room. There were shutters on the windows to keep it dark and cool. Beds were comfy. There is a lovely roof top bar and restaurant which has great view. We didn’t have a meal but we did have a drink and staff were friendly. The breakfast was buffet style and had plenty of choice. The location is fantastic, only a 20 min walk to the colosseum, Trevi fountain, Spanish Steps and Paletine Hill. We booked the hop on and off bus on the Saturday which was great, I would definitely recommend if you’re on a short stay and the bus stop is located five minute walk from the hotel. It is about 35mins from airport. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and shops close by. I would come back here again.
