Perfect stay
I can honestly say I have never experienced a hotel with such friendly staff. Dagmara (I hope I’ve spelt it right) she is a credit to the hotel. What an absolutely beautiful person. She could not do enough for us. With the hotel not being too big it had a personal touch. Also the gentleman on reception through the night. I didn’t catch his name. He was so lovely too. The hotel was spotless. Pristine bedsheets, immaculate bathroom and towels. Perfect location. If I ever come back to Iceland I would definitely be booking back into this hotel. Thanks for an enjoyable stay.
Good, Basic Hotel Option in Rekjkjavik
The Storm Hotel is well located at the Number 12 bus top for tours. The hotel is spotlessly clean, and staff seem efficient, though not very friendly (which would describe most of the hospitality industry staff I encountered in the city). Our room had no storage whatsoever for clothes; no shelves and a couple of hangers on a very short bar jutting from the wall. There was a good selection of television channels, and the shower was excellent. Overall, the hotel felt as though it were decorated by IKEA. The breakfast was fine, which would be my overall assessment of the hotel, with one exception: When we arrived we could barely get into the hotel without injury due to built up layers of treacherous ice on the sidewalk, which had not been shoveled or cleared of ice or snow. I grew up in "blizzard country" in the Upper Midwest of the US, and I've never seen anything like the dangerous conditions faced by guest of this hotel.
Basic, clean and quiet
Nice small double room (with no storage of luggage or clothes). Very clean with nice walk in shower. Clearly this hotel (via Tui) caters for just weekenders which is fine. Breakfast very basic with no egg options. Comfortable bed. Massive problem was ice on pavement outside hotel. On arrival most people were wearing 'normal' boots and shoes and it was literally an ice rink that you had to walk, dragging/carrying cases across. It became even worse over the weekend and caused a good couple of incidents. It literally would have take 2 people with shovels 5-10 minutes to clear. Most other establishments had cleared theirs to there was no excuse! Also note most guests were Tui so surely they should have taken some responsibility too.
