Punta Hotel

Punta Hotel is a modern hotel perched on the hills of Skiathos amid a forest of pine and olive trees. This high vantage point means the hotel looks over the gulf of Skiathos, offering panoramic views of the countryside and across the bay of the Aegean Sea to Skiathos Port on the south east coast of the island. The hotel has a main outdoor swimming pool as well as a separate kids' pool. There's also a sun terrace next to the hotel where you can sunbathe or lie in the shade of the hotel's trees. You can explore the surrounding area through walking trails that lead to the coast or along to Skiathos Town. The resort has a sheltered bay and is a working port where you can connect to other Greek destinations like Skopelos or Volos. Punta Hotel is a short drive from the nearest beach at Megali Ammos near Skiathos Town. The coarse sandy beach is family-friendly, so you can play with your children in the sand or paddle with them in the sea. There are several bars and tavernas around the beach promenade where you can go for a drink or a meal with a sea view.

Punta is 2km from the centre of Skiathos Town and 150m from the beach The town offers a base to explore the sights of the surrounding area, such as the Bourtzi Castle. Found on the peninsula that separates the old port from the new, the castle dates back to the 13th century. It was originally built to defend Skiathos from pirates, but now houses a cafÈ. If you are in search of beaches, Skiathos has plenty to try. Sandy Xanemos is a short drive north of the hotel. Further north of this is Lalaria Beach and sea caves, also within driving distance of Punta.

Punta has a buffet restaurant where you can eat breakfast and dinner, with a weekly themed Greek night. The restaurant has a terrace with floor-to-ceiling windows so you can take in the hillside views as you eat. There's also a pool bar where you can grab a refreshing drink or light snack.

For a little entertainment, Skiathos Town is an area known for its nightlife, regular beach parties and cultural events celebrating the region's history.

The rooms at Punta are decorated in neutral tones. They each come with satellite TV and a balcony or terrace to relax on.

Just had a wonderful week at this hotel. The staff are amazing, especially Maria and Katerina at the bar who worked so hard to keep us happy. All staff were always ready to help you out. A big shout to the girls on reception too who helped us book trips. Can't really say anything bad about this place. It's a 45 minute walk to the town, but there is a shuttle bus a few times a day for free. Thanks everyone for a lovely holiday. We will be back soon. Thanks again Maria, you were amazing.

A nice first experience in Skiathos!

The two things that make this hotel outstanding are firstly all of the staff, especially Mary and Katerina who work the hotel bar (very quick and Mary especially good at cocktails!) and the reception girls (so helpful) as were the cleaning staff, all so hard working, and secondly the views. There wasn't a room with a bad view and ours, a superior, was exceptional. The style is old but reasonably well modernised, there are a few niggles - I would have liked a walk in shower and not a shower over the bath, more storage draws, bottled water should be a free must in the room, better selection of teas and coffee (I helped myself at breakfast) and small milks are a necessity, but we had to buy these from town as there were none to take at breakfast. Large bottled water should be available cheaply and in excess if you are to have a kettle in your room! More comfortable chairs for our balcony though not all I noticed, many more sunbeds are needed for the amount of guests and also covered outdoor seating. The food was certainly not 4 star, just adequate and sometimes not! Very often the hot food was lukewarm at best. The choice of desserts especially was dire with only fruit or ice cream or ice cream and small cake, if your food is an important part of the holiday you won't be pleased. At breakfast bananas were cut in half in the fruit bowl, they seem to be running the catering on a shoestring. They have a beach with beds and umbrellas but the walking distance is not 250 yards as advertised, it is more and very steep if you have any mobility problems and of course no facilities there, however it is somewhere to spend a few hours away from the pool. There are other walks on the Punta and you can walk into town in about 45 minutes max, the first 350 yards is uphill, but if I can do it anyone can! Also there is a courtesy bus but not very often and you are wise to put your name down for the early one into Skiathos town as it only accommodates about 12 people and only runs once, which is not ideal if the hotel were to be full. This needs looking at! A taxi will cost you 10 euros to the port and we used them often, it wasn't really a problem unless you are on a very tight budget. The island is, as expected, more expensive because everything is bought in by boat. Having said all this I do believe the hotel and the island generally are doing their best in difficult circumstances after a terrible 2 years and I will go again but only for a few days to Hotel Punta to take in the views and see the lovely staff. Please don't let the cons put you off, this hotel is really worth a visit!

Stunning views

A tidy Hotel Anastasia and her colleague on reception were very helpful when you needed transport down to skiathos town. Rooms are basic, beds are comfortable, always running hot water for a wash or a shower. Pool was excellent Food . Breakfast was very good plenty of choices Restaurant staff were helpful and friendly. Cleaners . The room was cleaned every day , towels were changed if needed . I was and still am a bit confused as to why the cleaner changed our lovely soft pillows for very hard uncomfortable pillows half way through our holiday . Catrina on the bar was very polite and friendly, service always with a smile . Mary is lovely she understands and speaks very good English and is a credit to the hotel . I saw her work on the bar, put the beds out, cut the grass , thin out the beautiful pomegranate tree’s she never stops working and always with a smile you can tell she loves her job . We enjoyed our stay and we will definitely be going back to Skiathos
