Hidden Skiathos Beach

If you're looking for a relaxing beach break in the sun, then Skiathos is the perfect place for you to go. There are some fantastic sandy stretches for you to choose from, and Krifi Ammos, also known as Hidden Beach, is right there among the best of them.

It's only about a mile from the western end of Koukounaries Beach, which should take around 20 minutes to walk. It's a few minutes less if you jump on the bus and get off at bus stop 25. If you're walking, make sure you have plenty of water as the sun gets very hot over summer. Taking the coastal road west away from Koukounaries, there's a bend that brings you back almost 180 degrees to the right.

After this bend, the road widens a little, and you may see the odd car parked. If you miss the first little track on the left hand side of the road, there's another one a bit further round, where there might be more cars.

Taking one of these tracks, the view down towards the beach and out across the Aegean opens up before you. Make your way down to the golden sands and lay down your towel, before going for a dip in the inviting turquoise waters. The beach is usually nice and quiet, so you won't have many people for company as you enjoy the warm Greek sunshine.

When you need some refreshments, there's a little taverna at the back of the beach where you can grab a bite and a cool drink. If you can stick around for sunset, then you're in for a treat as you'll see the sun go down into the Pelion Peninsula's mountains in the distance. Then head back to Koukounaries and toast your day with a few cocktails at La Bussola Bar.
