Ixia holidays

Looking for a laid-back resort that’s close to the historic charms of Rhodes Town? Holidays to Ixia are the perfect choice if you want to dip in and out of the action. Fancy hotels, watersports and seaside tavernas pretty much sums up this resort. Not to mention a beautiful bay lapped by the most sparklingly clear water. But if it’s not quite lively enough, you can always hop over to Rhodes Town where the walled streets are bursting with personality. From grand palaces and fortifications to live music and chic courtyard bars - it’s all on your doorstep.

Waterside fun

Most of the fun things to do in Ixia centre around its beaches, and it’s hardly surprising with its fantastic watersports scene. Part pebbly and part sandy, the sunkissed shoreline has everything you’ll need for a day under the sun. Stretch out on a lounger, quench your thirst in its beach-facing bars, or simply sit back and take in the island’s rocky beauty. Then when you’re done relaxing, make the most of those coastal breezes and get your adrenaline-pumping with a kite or windsurfing adventure.

Seafront promenade

Stretching for four kilometres and standing parallel to the beach, Ixia’s promenade is a must for romantic strolls, especially as the sun begins to dip below the clouds. Or if you’re keen on getting some steps in, you can walk all the way to Rhodes Town in less than an hour! And don’t forget to refuel on the way; stop for a cocktail at one of the many bars, sample some Greek fare in a traditional taverna, or grab a local snack from a Greek bakery. A few pitstops will make the walk all the more enjoyable.

A history-steeped neighbour

A 10-minute car drive will see you exploring one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe. Stand in awe of The Palace of the Grand Master, wander the time-worn cobbles along the famous Street of the Knights, or take in incredible views from its ramparts. Enough history for one day? You’ve got a choice of fantastic eateries and bars too. Those wanting to be at the centre of the action will love people-watching from one of the many alfresco spots in Hippocrates Square. While others may prefer to step away from the main drag with plenty of cafe-bars hidden away in the side streets.
