Afandou Bay is located on the Greek island of Rhodes, 8km south of Faliraki and adjacent to the pebble beach of the same name. The range of room options cater for individuals, couples, groups of friends and families. You can choose to relax either poolside or in the Jacuzzi. For a more personal touch book a body or face treatment at the spa.
Sporty guests can reserve a tennis court or if it’s been a while since you played, you can arrange a lesson with an instructor. Alternatively, you might like to consider a session with a personal trainer. As well as the on-site facilities, there’s opportunities to take part in water sports, horse riding, fishing, biking and golf locally.
The main restaurant offers a lavish buffet of Rhodian produce for breakfast and traditional Greek cuisine for dinner. Lunch and light bites are available from the poolside bar, open from 10am daily. You don’t even need to leave your sunlounger, as the waiter will bring them to you. In the evening a variety of wines, long drinks, cocktails and other beverages are served at the lobby bar. Check out the entertainment programme to find when you can be treated to live music and dancing.
Standard rooms are a generous 25m2 and are equipped with air conditioning, satellite TV, WiFi, a safe, a minibar, an iron and a hairdryer. You may wish to relax on your terrace, overlooking the gardens, with a fresh coffee from the machine provided. Junior suites additionally have a sofa, which can also turn into an additional bed for a third guest. The family options offer two separate rooms, each with their own balconies and TVs, ideal if the kids want to watch cartoons, while you want to watch a sitcom.
The concierge can assist with booking organised tours of Rhodes. If you prefer to explore at your own pace, you shouldn’t pass on the opportunity to visit the medieval old town of Rhodes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, just a 30 minute drive away. It boasts remains of castles, temples and fortifications, while a visit to the Archaeological Museum will help illustrate the bygone times.
Nature lovers should visit the Valley of Butterflies, also around a 30 minute drive away. It’s just down the road from Farma of Rhodes, an ideal place for the little ones. Here, they can feed the ostriches and camels, as well go for a ride on a pony.
Greece manufactures 30,000 tons of honey each year and at the Bee Museum, around 20 minutes away by hire car, you can learn about the history and tradition of beekeeping and the production of this sweet, viscous food substance. You can also buy Melekouni as a present for friends and family back home. This tasty treat is made with sesame seeds, aromatic thyme honey, almonds and citrus peel and is often served to guests at christenings and weddings. The best bit - it has high nutritional value compared to other syrupy snacks.
