Don’t expect luxury

The name of the hotel is a little misleading, don’t expect any luxury. Pool towels are very hard to come by, everything looks a little tired, broken loungers at the pool, loud music playing at the pool when there are only families and older people and you get 2 small bottles of water in your (4 pax) room on the first day, dirty dishes from room service neighboring room left outside for hours. Not really bad, but also not really good. Just average, and wouldn’t necessarily recommend

Dated property void of modern upgrades, to include the non heated pool with old and dirty patio cushions. Off the beaten path for tourist attractions, however they do provide a shuttle service to and from the property to one drop and pick up location. Like the property the transportation is dated and not sufficient for the guest requiring service. You may have to wait for the same shuttle to return if you are not able to fit in the sprinter that is often filled with people standing in the aisle. Also be prepared to hike up the side of the hill if you are on any level beyond the first floor. Breakfast is complementary but isn’t served until 0800 and not a minute before. In fact it might be 0810 so schedule pick ups for 0900 unless you don’t want breakfast or want to turn into a chemist to work the inept room coffee maker. Also inside the room is the smallest safe available on the market. The front desk workers are a luck of the draw. Some are nice but a couple are downright rude. The wait staff were awesome, however they bar will close without warning and the door will be locked preventing access to the restroom on the pool level. My visit was with a group and only stayed here because of that. However any return trips wont be at the San Marcos.

We stayed in the Epic Blue section. The views were absolutely amazing! The room was very comfortable, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is somewhat remote, but there is a free shuttle. The restaurant is a bit pricey, but the food is good. Lucy at the front desk is a treasure! She went out of her way to help in any way possible. Vasilli was one of the drivers, and was also outstanding.
