Koukounaries’ legendary Blue Flag beach is one of the resort’s main draw cards. Go there to bask in unspoiled surroundings, or to enjoy an alfresco meal at one of the beach restaurants lining its fine white sand. More active types can take advantage of Koukounaries’ favourable climate to enjoy a variety of interesting water sports, including reef walking and dolphin diving. For a break from the beach, the Monastery of Panagia Evangelistria is a fantastic place to go for a cultural insight of the town.

With its fine white sand and fragrant pine forest surroundings, it’s no wonder the beach is one of the most famous attractions in Koukounaries. Often considered the most unspoiled natural beach of the Mediterranean, this sandy stretch is well organised with chairs, umbrellas, water sports and beach bars. Nearby tavernas and eateries offer a charming place to cool off and watch the world go by.

Feel the calming stillness at the Monastery of Panagia. Situated on a hillside north of Skiathos Town, this peaceful monastery is one of the best places to go in Koukounaries for a taste of the island’s cultural history. Inside, you can look forward to three chapels, a library and a museum with a variety of relics.

With its warm Mediterranean climate and gentle coastal winds, Koukounaries has great conditions for water sports. From scuba diving and snorkeling, to reef walking and sailing, there are a variety of water-based things to do in Koukounaries. New divers can take their first plunge with registered instructors. There are several diving centres in the area that can show you the ropes as part of a short course. For everyone else, the usual water sports that you would expect, such as snorkels and pedalos, are available at Koukounaries Beach.
