A few miles outside Rhodes’ poster-child Lindos is the little resort of Pefkos, a former fishing village that has grown into a charming beach resort. Perfect for peaceful getaways, the resort provides an award-winning beach on its beautiful coastline, with a vibrant little town centre full of bars and places to eat. If you’re on holiday with your family, Rhodes’ best water park is less than an hour’s drive.
Things to do
Sleepy bays, rocky coves and sparkling seas are a big attraction in Pefkos; there’s nowhere better to soak up the Mediterranean sunshine. But there’s so much more to enjoy on. You could give watersports a go (maybe you’d like to learn to windsurf) or take a glass-bottomed boat trip and see colourful marine life beneath. If you’re travelling with the kids in tow, you won’t want to miss the Faliraki Water Park; it’s bursting with slides, wave pools, and games.

By bus: Rhodes’ main towns and resorts are well connected via the bus network. Pefkos’ local bus service stops here on the way to Lindos, so it’s a cheap and efficient daytrip option.
By taxi: An easy way to get from the airport to Pefkos, and for shorter trips during your stay. Just make sure you check the price and that the meter’s running before you hop in.
By car: If you want to explore the beautiful island of Rhodes at your own pace, hiring a car is your best bet. You’ll find plenty of rental companies around and the roads are generally good.
Medieval Rhodes Festival: Held in late May or early June, this is one of the biggest events in the island’s calendar. Within the beautifully preserved medieval town in the city of Rhodes, you’ll find locals participating with costumes, performances, and re-enactments (think jugglers, jesters and fire eaters).
Flower Festival: Another event in the city of Rhodes, visitors and locals flock here from across the island to experience this colour festival in May. Expect exciting parades and decorated floats, plus a wealth of traditional food and wine.

Best time to visit: May and June, when it’s hot (but not too hot) and sunny.
Pefkos Rhodes’ Mediterranean summers can last all the way from May until October, often hitting highs of 30°C in July and August. Peak summer season is the best time to visit if you want to top up your tan. Spring and late summer are popular among holidaymakers who want slightly more comfortable temperatures in the mid-20s (°C), but still with plenty of warm sunshine every day.
