Blue Bay caters for guests who want to seek relaxation and serenity on the sunny Greek island of Crete. This family-friendly, all-inclusive resort is located in Agia Pelagia with its traditional seaside tavernas and sandy beaches, sheltered by rock formations.
The hotel boasts six swimming pools, two for the children with a depth of 0.5m. If you just want to unwind with a drink while your partner or little ones go for a swim, the bartender at Pergola can prepare a cocktail or pour you a shot of ouzo. Young guests (aged 5-12) can join the mini club, which runs from mid-June to mid-September, for a wide range of fun activities. While grown up travellers can take advantage of mini golf, pool, tennis, basketball and football.
The Four Seasons Spa allows you to get in touch with your senses in a peaceful environment. Relax in the sauna, Turkish steam bath or plunge pool. For a more personal touch, book a massage or experience treatments using seaweed, clay, chocolate, almonds, pineapple and papaya.
The Amvrosia restaurant offers an extensive buffet of Greek and international dishes, prepared from fresh ingredients. In the evenings you may choose to wash down your dinner with a local Cretan beer or wine. For a more formal dining experience visit Panorama and order a speciality off the a la carte menu. As the name suggests the view from your table will be a magnificent one of the azure Cretan Sea.
Thanks to the three bars, alcohol plus soft drinks and snacks are available from 10am, with the Dionyssos continuing to serve beverages until 1am. But note the all-inclusive service ends at 11pm. Get a scoop or two of ice cream from 10am to 6pm, while afternoon coffee and cake is on offer at two of the bars. To keep you entertained in the evenings there are weekly BBQ nights, discos, live music and more.
Rooms at Blue Bay are equipped with a balcony or terrace, air conditioning, cable TV, a hair dryer and mini fridge. If you have a baby, a cot can be provided. For an additional charge you can request a safe, Espresso machine or pool towels. Family suites boast a seaview terrace with your own private Jacuzzi and a separate sleeping area for the little ones.
Agia Pelagia takes its name from the Monastery of the Sebbathians, the ruins of which are located around 1km from the centre. Nearby you will find Doxa cave, which may be small but it houses very impressive rock formations. You are also only half an hours’ drive from the island’s capital Heraklion, where you can see buildings dating as far back as the Venetian and Ottoman eras, while older discoveries are housed at the extensive Archaeological Museum.
