Brilliant staff and lovely hotel

We had a 10 day stay at the Vasia in August. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend the hotel. The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble and they made us all feel very welcome. Dennis on reception and Manos in the restaurant went above and beyond time and time again. Whilst the hotel is probably not a 5 star (but that is the case with many hotels in Greece in terms of star ratings), it was a good 4 star and we’d still stay again. A little tlc and a few more restaurant options would definitely help to make it a 5 star. Overall a wonderful little place that we’d recommend for a family holiday.

What a fortnight!

After a 26hr delay we finally arrived at Vasia Resort and Spa, exhausted and I was slightly concerned as I had arranged for a birthday cake and balloons to be in my daughters room, Monika (Guest Services) had arranged to delay the cake presentation and all balloons were in place in the teens adjoining room, much to my relief! In fact I couldn't fault any of the staff, and would also like a special mention to Julian our favourite wait staff, who made us laugh every day, my morning barista for my 2 cups of black coffee every day and Natalie in animation for my workouts in the pool (or sea!) as with a recent knee injury most activities were a no go for me so getting exercise in water was ideal! Our rooms were clean, and yes the carpets and decor could be replaced as showing signs of wear and tear, but they were as clean as could be and the bed linen was fresh, cool and clean. Loved the shower gel in our bathroom, wish I had got the name as I preferring it to the one I bought from home! I would recommend buying big bottles of water and coffee from the next door supermarket, if, like me, you drink a lot of coffee! As a tea-total I can't really comment on the alcoholic side of the all inclusive. I know my other half who only likes archers and lemonade or fruit ciders was mainly drinking the virgin cocktails on offer, although fruit cider was available in the supermarket! The food however was varied, delicious and the desserts divine! Beautiful to look at and beautiful to eat. If, like us, you have fussy teens with you they managed to find something to suit their limited palettes, oh and the ice cream was gorgeous too, especially the chocolate, one of the best I've had! We had 2 meals in the rooftop a la carte restaurant (you get 1 per week as part of the all inclusive package) and the food there was gorgeous too! Entertainment in the evening was well done, Vasia post regularly on their Instagram so check out some of the videos, comedy suited all languages and sense of humour, karaoke was a blast (considering I was sober) and the theatre was perfect for the circus show and comedy acts. The animation team work so hard to entertain the guests and succeeded. I can't comment on the spa, or kids club as didn't go or use either (injury means laying on my front is uncomfortable and our kids are too old!) However when you see little kids going up to the kids club staff with big smiles in the evening, joining us at water aerobics and taking photos with them when they leave its a pretty good indicator that they enjoyed it. Vasia Resort and Spa is huge, Lots of pools to choose from, although generally it seems guests with younger children opted for the ones nearer the snack bar, middling aged kids the rectangular one near the restaurant and older kids the kidney shaped pool beyond that. Outside areas cleaned daily and lots of sunbeds available. We did visit the sister hotel for the water slides as we got a free pass as a birthday gift for my daughter, and I'm glad it was free, the 4 slides that they could go on and shallow landing pool which they hit their bottoms on when landing meant we stayed 10 minutes before the short walk back to our hotel, and the difference between the 2 was marked. We also went on the free transfer to a beach, mainly as the one near to the hotel was so small. This beach was also by another sister hotel, and were still glad we picked the resort and spa! Although the beach was busy, we got our sunbeds and enjoyed a swim in the warm sea, and didn't really use the facilities at the hotel although the toilets and lobby area we walked through were clean! In short the teens enjoyed a relaxing fortnight and so we enjoyed a relaxing fortnight. The only comment they made was on not being able to locate the hotels 'nightclub' as they wanted to go clubbing and we didn't want them walking alone into the towns clubs for safety reasons. We really enjoyed our fortnight there, with the gorgeous sunsets, warm sea, hot days, warm evenings although I did see one of the best thunderstorms I have ever had the pleasure to see! The hotel was spotless, with cleaning being done daily and towels being changed daily as well. Three bottles of water were provided on a complimentary basis daily. There were several pools and chairs so that one area did not seem overcrowded. The food was good, enough for even picky eaters to be able to have some choice on the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The pastry and desserts were scrumptious and servers were cheerful and friendly. Empty plates and glasses were cleared very quickly. The only area that was a bit below par was perhaps the entertainment. The guys really tried and worked with what they had, but many of the activities were not for a large group. It would have been lovely to have more inclusive and varied entertainment. All in all, an excellent holiday.
