Should I hire a car in Heraklion?

Yes, hiring a car on Crete is the best way to explore the island. It leaves you a lot of possibilities to explore this island, as it is 260km long and 60km wide. Rules for driving are normal, however the safety lane is almost always used as a take over lane. So when someone goes faster, you go onto the safety lane and let the other person take over. Do always check if the location is safe for this. If you rent with your local representative a car is only sold fully insured. If you do book locally, check that the contract is in a language you fully understand and the insurances included, as you do would like to have a fully insured car.
