Where else should I visit if I'm staying in Aghios Nikolaos?

Aghios Nikolaos has a really good public bus service, with the main terminal being right in the centre. From here you can visit pretty much any part of the East of the island (Sissi, Malia etc) the south (Irepetra etc) and Heraklion. The buses run regularly thorough out the day and at weekends and are also a very inexpensive way to get about.

It takes about 30 minutes to get to Spinalonga from Aghios Nikolaos and you can pick these boats up from the harbour. We run a full day trip but if they just wanted to go for a half day most hotels sell tickets for this.

Is Agios Nikolaos a good place to visit in March?

No, a lot of the area is still closed in March with just a couple of shops and restaurants open. It starts to come alive at the end of April all throughout the summer till the end of October.
