Staff telling lies

Sep 2021 | Explorer829208
TV stopped working in Saturday. Informed reception Sunday morning-told me it wil be fixed during the day. Came back at 19:00, TV still down. Reception told me, technician is on his way...went out for dinner at 20:00, reception told me technician will arrive in 21:00...came back at 22:30, TV still down. Things may happen, but lies are unaccaptable. If a hotel is not able to fix a technical problem within decent time, it is not of high quality...apart from that lies are a "No-Go"!

A wedding anniversary special treat

Aug 2020 | ChrisT375
This was our first visit to the hotel, while it is an expensive 5 star hotel, we were staying in a deluxe harbour view room. We arrived early due to Easy jet changing our flights, however we were greeted by the duty manager, and were impressed with his kindness. He said our room was available at 1.30 pm and he had upgraded us to a corner suite for our 4 night stay. The room on the 5 th floor was beautiful and well appointed . We found all the Staff well trained, efficient and very helpful.. we had been in our room about 1 hour when there was a knock on the door and , we were given a beautiful box of chocolates and a fresh fruit plate with an accompanying letter wishing us both a happy 50 th anniversary. Thank you once again. A lovely surprise Congratulations to your team

FANTASTIC VIEWS AND GREAT BREAKFAST

Jan 2020 | Alan B
We arrived around 1300 after our short drive from Nice and were welcomed outside the hotel and allowed to park right at the entrance as parking is renowned to be an issue in Monaco. I had looked at parking nearby but the costs weren`t that cheap and decided to bite the bullett and pay the EUR40 for valet parking which on the long run was well worth it. We went to check in and despite earlier than normal they were kind enough to allocate a room for us straight away. The staff were polite and courteuos and a real delight. We had a room on the first floor, we would have preferred higher but we still had a view if the habour which is a must and to be honest the one advantage of staying at the Port Palace is all rooms have a harbour view. We entered our HUGE room which was at the end of the floor and away from the lifts which we always prefer. The room is nicely decorated but difficult to explain, is nice but old. All in good fettle but perhaps showing a little age in decor only. This is a personal thing and some people may love it. A HUGE bed and an equally HUGE bathroom. The window wasnt big but still allowed a good view of the harbour. Perhaps if the hotel was built today they may put in full walls of glass. There is a nice table and pair chairs to take in the view and the window does open a little so you can hear the world and their yachts go by. There was a small mark on the bed sheets but this is being super picky. We did note that there was tea and coffee in the room but it was EUR4.50 a cup which I have never seen before. Not so much the cost but just an i room charge. We were also greeted with a nice letter and some local chocolates which always goes down well. You can walk out of the front door straight onto the harbour front or you can go to the top floor and past a very nice roof top restaraunt to an exit half way up the hill to get a shorter walk to the casino area. We didn`t eat in the restaraunt but we did have breakfast in the morning and I can hand on heart say it was one of the best hotel breakfast`s I have had in a very long time. A lot of selection and all very very tasty and the staff were amazing with tea and coffee service, it was a true delight. The hotel also has some interesting art as well, especally for us as we love out wood!.. Would we go back, in a heartbeat! The breakfast and views are well worth it. I would highly recommend a visit. We are planning a return visit some time this year. Also as part of Small Luxury Hotels enrole in their "INVITED" frequent guest scheme, is well worth it if you stay with this group. Port Palace Hotel, THANK YOU!
