A highly enjoyable weekend

Our weekend at the Bull Hotel was very enjoyable and exceeded our expectations in every area. The hotel is well maintained and we enjoyed excellent service by everybody we met. Our rooms were comfortable although could be a bit warm over night ( no problem to just open a window however) We ate in the restaurant on the first night and in the bar on the second and the food was enjoyed by us all (as was the lovely cask ales that were available!). Breakfast was equally as good on both days. Peterborough itself has good and not so good points as with a lot of city centres. A few hours in the magnificent cathedral is a must however, as is a walk along the Nene valley. We had a great time at the Bull!

Although expensive, this charming hotel is conveniently situated in the center of Peterborough, offering clean rooms, a charming atmosphere, excellent staff, and complimentary parking for guests. However, non-guests customers are charged an extortionate amount for parking, so it's advisable to avoid parking here if you're not staying at the hotel. Some rooms have noisy air conditioning units outside, which could be a problem for light sleepers. It's advisable to request a quiet room to avoid this issue. Although the hotel's décor is traditional, some may find it dated, but we found it endearing and enjoyable

Passport pickup in Peterborough

We had to go to Peterborough to visit the passport office and booked this hotel for the overnight stay. Despite Peterborough being a bit of a dump, we had a lovely stay. The girl on reception was welcoming and friendly, which was nice after a dispiriting walk from the station. The rooms were clean, the bed comfortable and very quiet. I slept so well. The bar area was welcoming and again very comfortable with polite, friendly staff. We enjoyed the cathedral and surrounding area, but a lot of the city centre is strangled by a ring road and hideous concrete modernity. Having said this I did enjoy our stay and found the people cheerful and friendly.
