Gorgeous hotel, beautiful people, amazing stay

May 2022 | Waelllll

We can't wait to go back. The soaring ceilings, soothing marble color palette, North African motifs and oversized sense of scale all serve to make architecture sweeping and grand from the moment we stepped foot into the lobby and carries throughout the property. All the amazing pictures online are real.  The beach was not exciting, but that was ok because we did not want to leave our swim-up room. It felt more like a room with a large private pool rather than a shared (between 4 rooms) one. There were several large pools, all sparkling and pristine, gorgeously curved and tiled, and a sweet animation team that our kids would have enjoyed had they been with us.  The grounds were beautifully tended, abundantly flowering frangipani, bougainvillea, others I can't name, in every color and size. We even saw mangoes on the mango trees! I would like to see them replace the grass though, with more a eco-friendly option. Like most places, skip the dinner buffet. The food at the a la carte restaurants was mostly top notch. We went to Sanfir (seafood) twice, the setting and service were superb. We tried all the soups, grilled fish, fried calamari. The fish was super fresh and cooked to perfection. The accompanying dishes hit the spot. Overall, eating right next to the beach was lovely.  We also tried Amoura (Lebanese). Stunning decor inside the restaurant, we couldn't decide whether to sit there or by the pool. Gorgeous presentation of dishes, and tasty dishes. Steer clear of the lamb chops though, they were not on the same level as the rest of the food.  You really know the culture of a place when there's a problem. There was a misunderstanding in our reservation but once we brought it to the attention of Mr. Mohamed Saleh, the Food Service Director who welcomed us at the breakfast restaurant earlier, he resolved it seamlessly and swiftly. Warm, detail-oriented and a dynamo of a director, during our time he was constantly checking on all the guests at every mealtime.  Mr Saleh was pretty much emblematic of many staff we encountered. Warm, positive energy from all of: the spa manager, Abdel Hady and Michael at Sanafir restaurant; Reda, our housekeeper fully dedicated to our room cluster; Ahmed Magdy, our server at the main breakfast restaurant (and the continuous supply of beautiful fresh Egyptian juices, espressos and the all important unsweetened almond milk; El-Sayed at the Almaza bar breakfast and a true Egyptian street breakfast; Basem (Biso) and the Molokhia making lady (sorry I forgot your name!) from Amoura restaurant; Aya, the sweet young waitress on the dinner terrace; Abdel-Karim, the towel guy, Ahmed our driver.  Oh and the Egyptian show night was outstanding :D The belly dancer Mariana and the tanoura guy who got us to twirl with the tanoura was a highlight of our trip.

A wonderful experience!!!

We loved it here! The staff are fab, it is spotlessly clean everywhere (and I mean everywhere!) the food is amazing, pools are quiet (and a bit cold, But quite refreshing in the heat!) no problems getting sun beds or extra towels which was great, it is also close to the airport so a really short transfer which is good especially if you have kids. Big thanks to Carlos in the main bar he was super friendly & great with the kids as was a waiter named Hassain (hope I spelt that right!) but to be honest everyone we met was lovely. You can eat as many times as you like in the a la carts which was lovely, you can use the cabanas on the beach for free (which we have paid extra for in other hotels) my top tip would be bring insect repellent! We got bitten quite a bit. We did snorkel but not much as it was windy at the bottom of the jetty so the red flag was out a lot during our stay, also it’s a bit of a walk from the hotel - that didn’t bother us though. There are plenty of starfish in the really shallow waters but watch out for the snakes though (my 12 year old freaked out!) beach shoes are a good idea as paddling is a bit rocky in patches. All in all it’s a fabulous hotel, I would highly recommend it to anyone!
