Venice – Weather
You’ll get lovely and warm weather in Venice if you’re heading off in summer; you can expect plenty of sunshine, and if you’re lucky temperatures can reach up to 30ºC. Just bear in mind that rain can fall at any time of year, so be sure to take a waterproof with you. When winter rolls around, it can be pretty chilly. But the cool, clear, sunny days at this time of year are absolutely ideal for sightseeing.
Something different, every season
The beauty of this Italian city, spread over 100 small islands, is plain to see at any time of year. World-famous sights like the Grand Canal, St Mark’s Square and Palazzo Ducale (Doge’s Palace) will take your breath away, whatever the Venice weather is like during your visit.
Spring is a great time to visit. As the season goes on, you can expect blue skies and sunshine. May is considered the best month to visit Venice, when there tends to be daily sunshine and it’s often warm enough to eat al fresco. If you want guaranteed sunshine, though, summer is the season for you. Temperatures can reach 28-30°C, but it’s worth bearing in mind that it can get really busy at this time of year.
When September rolls around, the autumn weather in Venice kicks in. It’s a bit of a mixed bag with warm, sunny days, cool nights, and rain showers from time to time. It cools down even more by October, but the crowds start to disappear at this time of year, which is ideal if you want to explore at leisure. It’s even more peaceful during the winter months, when the weather tends to be cool and grey with icy drizzle. By January and February, it’s still chilly, but bright blue skies start to break through.
