Events in Tokyo

Moon viewing: Tsukimi has been a Japanese tradition for centuries and is celebrated throughout the country. Tokyo pays homage to the tradition by lighting up the iconic Tokyo Tower in pink and blue, which can be viewed from up close and from afar. The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (The Miraikan) also celebrates the autumn full moon with extended opening hours and traditional Japanese music performances.

Ippan Sanga: The first major festival of the year allows the public to visit the Imperial Palace, where the Emperor and Imperial Family come out to receive New Year greetings from the public.
