Free Nightlife in Paris

The nightlife scene in Paris is many things. It’s romantic, glamorous, stylish, and famous around the world, but it isn’t usually cheap.
There are exceptions to this though. Paris has lots of lovely parks across the city, and there are often musical performances where you can be entertained for free. You can also see plenty of music on and around the Pont des Arts courtesy of the many buskers. Find your spot among the locals on the nearby lawns and watch the sunset with an inexpensive bottle of wine from the supermarket.

If you’re interested in skateboarding or roller skating, head to the Palais de Chaillot Plaza and watch local skaters do their thing. Stick around until dark and mingle with other tourists as you watch the hourly light show that illuminates the Eiffel Tower.

There are plenty of bars and clubs with free entry where you can go to just people watch or dance to some music. If you want to party with the younger crowd then head to Chez Moune in Pigalle. The DJs play a mix of rock and electro that keeps things going strong until sunrise, and the inexpensive drinks and impressive sound system means it’s a popular place to go dancing.

Try La Java if you’re after a venue with a long and colourful history. Found in the 10th arrondissement, the bar has working class roots that stretch back to the 1930s. These days you can sip on some water while you watch a garage rock band or dance to a techno DJ, or stretch the budget to just a couple of drinks.

If electronic dance music is your thing, head to Wanderlust. You might have to pay for a drink, but its position on the banks of the Seine make it a wonderful place to watch the sun go down before you dance the night away to the beats of the hottest DJs.
