Nice – Weather
The south of France is famous for its lovely weather, so you can expect warm and sunny days if you’re going to Nice over summer, with average highs of 24ºC in July and August. Don’t forget your sun cream if you’re there at this time. The weather in Nice stays nice and mild over winter and rarely drops below 7ºC, so the city’s perfect for visiting all year round.
Visit Nice in spring or autumn
Nice weather is pretty dependable if you like it warm and sunny: with over 300 sunny days a year, you’re practically guaranteed lovely weather. To avoid the crowds and enjoy exploring the city without worrying about it being too hot, book your trip from mid-March to April or September to October.
Winter is one of the most popular times to visit Nice, as temperatures are cooler yet still mild enough for sightseeing. On colder days you can cosy up in a café or restaurant, or head for the Musée Matisse and the Musée d’Art Moderne to see some of the most beautiful artwork in the city.
Some of our favourite places to visit in Nice include the Cours Saleya Market in the Old Town, where you can shop for street food and dine al fresco on sunny days, and the Colline du Chateau (Castle Hill). The viewing platform up here above the city gives you some really stunning views over Nice. When the weather in Nice is hot and sunny, there’s nothing quite like a stroll along the Promenade des Anglais, or you could explore Vieux Nice’s charming cobbled streets and shop for some local souvenirs of your holiday.
