Jump in to the hustle and bustle of the traditional souks, visit the amazing museums and galleries and chill out in the lush gardens. Circle the stunning Koutoubia Mosque with its four copper globes and traditional designs.  Spend your days teeing off at one of three golf courses, then in the evenings, head to one of the bustling night markets. But if you’re looking for a totally different African experience, escape to a ski resort in the Atlas Mountains – just a one hour drive away in Oukaimeden.

Known as the heartbeat of the city, Jemaa el Fna is the place to go in Marrakech for an authentic Moroccan experience. By day, explore the winding maze of souks and see what you can find in the narrow streets and alleys of the medina quarter – the old city of ramparts dating back to the 12th-century. You may even discover a handy food stall selling tasty grilled meats along the way. Then at night, watch the square transform as it is taken over by storytellers, magicians and dancers.

Escape the vibrant city and find your ‘zen’ in one of the best places near Marrakech - the Menara Gardens. Feel at peace with a walk past the reflecting pool, surrounded by 30,000 green olive trees and the soaring Atlas Mountains behind.  Popular with both the locals and tourists, the gardens are a great place to visit for a picnic. Enjoy the peace and quiet of one of the most serene sites in the city.

For shopping, head to the traditional souks of Marrakech. Take on the Moroccan art of shopping and learn how to haggle with the locals in some of the best places in the city. Sift through the different markets from Monday to Saturday, and get your hands on everything from traditional Moroccan clothing to unique spices and precious Berban necklaces and bracelets. Spend your dirhams on authentic leather bags and handmade accessories. Head to the Centre Artisanal for everything from kaftans to carpets, the perfect souvenirs to take home.
