A Guide to London Nightlife
Piccadilly, Covent Garden and Leicester Square are all must-sees while you’re in London. If you have the time, spread your wings a little to see more of the city’s nightlife and get a true idea of what it has to offer.
London is home to some of the best named pubs, with the ‘I Am the Only Running Footman’ being just one example. Some pubs have been decked out to look like old boozers in a hipster kind of way, while others genuinely are old boozers.
You’ll find chains like Yates’, Wetherspoons and All Bar Ones all over the city. If you’re looking for great prices, try the Sam Smith pubs. This Yorkshire brewery’s great for a no nonsense, no frills evening full of beer.
VIP clubs in places like South Kensington and Mayfair will usually charge an entry fee and you’ll probably have to queue to get in. Camden and Shoreditch are so popular that if you don’t arrive early you’ll probably be waiting on the streets for a while there too.
If you’re looking for more of an exclusive night out in London, step in the elevator up to one of the highest bars in the city. Kensington Roof Gardens comes complete with flamingos, while the Sky Garden on top of the ‘Walkie Talkie’ has one of the highest and best views. Other high spots include the Shard’s Atrium Bar and Vertigo 42, the champagne bar up Tower 42. Or if you’re looking for something a little outside-the-box try Frank’s Cafe on the top floor of the multi-storey car park in Peckham.
As well as great places to see live music, there are comedy and burlesque shows, or museum and gallery openings every night of the week in London, so there’s always something to do.
