Krakow – Weather

Krakow is one of Poland’s oldest cities, and one of its most beautiful. Krakow weather can vary with the seasons, so it’s a good idea to check out the forecast before planning your trip. This sprawling medieval city is bisected by the River Wisla, with most sights and attractions located on the north bank. From the Historic Old Town to the medieval Wawel Castle and the bustling Main Square, Krakow is a diverse city that also embraces modern architecture alongside its historic façades. There’s plenty here to see and do, whatever the weather.

Year-round delights

Like many European cities, Krakow weather is warmest during the summer months. July is the hottest month, with an average temperature of 19ºC, although temperatures can often reach as high as 30ºC. Pack a mac, though, as July is also the wettest month of the year. July and August are the busiest months for tourists, so if you’re looking for a more relaxing trip, you might want to visit the city between March to May or September to November.

Krakow in Spring

Spring time (March to May) is a fantastic time for sightseeing and the weather in Krakow is still warm enough to stroll around the Main Square or enjoy al fresco drinks in one of the cafés in the Kazimierz District. In spring, the weather in Krakow averages around 14ºC, the perfect temperature for a walking tour around the Old Town Main Square, where you can stop off and shop at the Cloth Hall’s covered market.

Winter breaks to Krakow

Although temperatures can drop to below zero during Krakow winters, it’s still a great time to visit the city. You can enjoy indoor attractions such as Wieliczka Salt Mines, visit Wawel Castle, or admire the art at Czartoryski Palace.
