Krakow for Vegetarians, Vegans and Gluten-Free Diets
Travelling with a dietary requirement isn’t always the easiest but no matter your need, there should be something to please you in Krakow. Veggies and side salads are almost compulsory on a Polish plate, so finding greens and gluten-free meals isn’t too hard here.
Chimera caters for all of the above. It’s a traditional Polish restaurant with a winter garden theme, an open fireplace, bare stone walls and a courtyard. You can try plenty of meat-free options including soups and salads from a 30 metre-long salad bar, with gluten-free choices also on the menu.
If you’re looking for somewhere exclusively vegan and vegetarian, try Glanojad. It’s cheap, cheerful and serves good coffee. Try one of their curries or burritos, or if you love falafel, you’re in for a treat.
Pod Baranem is another great spot to try out. Alongside the rustic décor it has entire menus dedicated to gluten-free and meat-free food. This is the place to go if you’re looking for somewhere a bit fancier in the city, which is reflected in the prices and atmosphere.
If you’re in the mood for a burger, Krowarzywa is great for a quick bite. They’re known as being the healthiest vegan fast food in the city. Everything they serve up is 100% plant-based and produced with care for both animals and the environment. You can also get your burger in a gluten-free bun with a side of vegan cheese.
For a quick sugar fix, head to Wesola Café. It’s a trendy spot serving up good coffee with a hearty breakfast, and plenty of dietary options available. Try their banana mokka smoothie, the coconut chia pudding, or the chocolate millet groats.
