Dublin – Weather

Despite what you might have heard, the weather in Dublin is generally far drier than the west coast of Ireland. There’s still a chance of rain all year round, which is probably why this lush part of the world is known as the Emerald Isle. If you’re not a fan of the heat, Dublin is a great place to visit because it doesn’t get too hot in the summer, with average temperatures of around 20ºC.

Pack layers and expect the unexpected

If you want to experience the best Dublin weather, we suggest planning a trip between mid-June to early September, when it tends to be at its warmest. The winters are relatively mild, but we always recommend packing a warm coat if you’re visiting during the chillier months. If it gets too cold, then there are plenty of cosy bars and restaurants to warm up in with a hot meal and a pint of Guinness.

The weather in Dublin can be a little bit unpredictable. Therefore, layers are a wise choice. Perhaps you could carry a cardigan or sweatshirt in your bag, that way you’ll be able to enjoy your day no matter what the weather decides to do. You may also need a travel umbrella or a rain mac; it never hurts to be prepared for Dublin weather.

If you’re seriously into your photography, then plan your visit for any time between early April and mid-October, when the clarity is best. There’s nothing better than exploring the beautiful sights that Dublin has to offer and taking a few snaps to remember your wonderful holiday.

Some of our favourite places to explore are Dublin Castle, St Patrick’s Cathedral, and the National Botanic Gardens. These three sites are an absolute must-see, especially if it’s your first time visiting Dublin. The soft early-morning light gives everything a golden hue, ideal for atmospheric snaps.
