Weekends in Dubai: Nightlife

Remember, weekend nights are Thursday and Friday in Dubai, as you’ll easily be able to tell from the city’s nightlife. This is when the big names come to town. Artists known for their techno, pop, garage and R&B stop by to get the inevitable crowds all fired up. Have a look at club listings and arenas like the Lodge, Festival Centre Mall and the Madinat Arena.

In Dubai you can drink at bars on the beach, at the bottom of an indoor ski slope, up a tower or in a classic vintage car at the Garage. And of course, there’s also the normal bars and clubs to keep you busy too.

If you’re going to be in a large group of men, it may be difficult to get into a club, especially if you’ve had a few drinks. You may need to find some women to walk in with, or stagger your entry.

Swanky clubs are a big part of Dubai’s nightlife, although there’s more to it than that. If you love karaoke then head to the K Lounge, which has plush purple booths, neon lighting and a miniature stage with a smoke machine. It’s modern karaoke with song selections on tablets and Arabic afternoon tea served on three-tiered stands.

Lounge has a hipster pub vibe, and is a great place to go if you’re feeling the Dubai heat. Relax on the mismatched leather sofas as you’re served drinks in cartoon mugs by waiters in bow ties.

If you don’t fancy drinking and partying, head to the theatre, watch the roller derby, go to the cinema or visit the pop up markets. Keep an eye on local listings too, as Dubai has an eclectic festival calendar full of interesting events.
