Stag and Hen Weekends in Budapest

If you’re organising a stag or hen party, you’ll love Budapest. There’s great food, cheap alcohol and plenty of exciting activities.

You can do everything from guided pub crawls to local wine tasting, while casinos and the beer bike, which serves beer as you peddle, are always popular. There’s also paintballing, tank driving, riverboat cruises and even bubble football too.

The local drink here’s palinka, although we’d strongly advise you to limit how much you drink, as it’s pretty strong stuff. You should also know that it’s hard to buy alcohol in shops between 10pm and 6am.

If you’re trying to stick to a budget there are lots of things to do in the day that don’t cost a penny. Add a little culture into your weekend and visit the Dohány Street Synagogue, which is the second largest synagogue in the world.

The Hungarian Parliament Building’s a stunning Neo-Gothic building by the river and is a must-see. You can watch the changing of the guards every day, and make sure you cross the river for great views from the other side.

Budapest’s packed with thermal springs, and a spa day’s a fantastic way to end your weekend. The Szechanyi Baths are the most popular, and have a variety of rooms and pools, while the Gellert Baths are also great. If you’ve had a late night at a ruin bar then the plunge pools are sure to wake you up. Locals claim they’re the best cure for a hangover, which is known as a macskajaj, or ‘cat’s wail’.
