Bruges – Weather
When you’re planning a trip one of the first things to check is the Bruges weather forecast. The climate is pleasant but there is always a chance of rain and it can get chilly in winter. However, come rain or shine, it’s such a beautiful city that the weather won’t matter if you’re prepared.
In spring, you’ll enjoy some pleasant weather in Bruges. It can be cool so it’s great for sightseeing and perfect weather to climb the famous Belfry and admire the architecture of Market Square. Begijnhof is especially beautiful when the central green is golden with daffodils. That’s not forgetting the 47 chocolate shops, so there’s no better place to buy your Easter eggs.
Summer is an obvious choice because Bruges weather is pleasantly warm at around 17-20°. It’s ideal for a wander around mediaeval streets, or getting off the beaten track to discover a Belgian beer garden and sample a special Trappist brew or two. Longer summer days are perfect for seeking out your own secret spot around Sint-Annarei or Minnewater Park.
Autumn brings cooler temperatures, dropping to 11° in October. The chance of rain increases too, making it an ideal time to visit one of Bruges excellent museums. There are museums dedicated to chocolate, beer and famous Bruges frites as well as many inspiring art galleries. History lovers will lose themselves in Historium or charming Volkeskundmuseum. When the sunshine does peep out, you can grab the chance for a famous canal boat ride.
Winter is when the weather in Bruges is coldest, but it’s also at its most magical. Seeing the Stadhuis capped with snow or wandering the pretty Christmas Markets is hard to beat. If you don’t fancy walking around in the cold, then a ride in a horse-drawn carriage (complete with cosy blankets) followed by a warming treat in The Old Chocolate House is perfect.
