Barcelona – Weather
The weather in Barcelona is blissfully warm in the summer and mild in winter with daytime temperatures rarely dropping below double figures. Such an agreeable climate provides a perfect backdrop to explore this fascinating city.
The mild winter Barcelona weather is perfect for taking in some of the city’s most famous sites. First stop will be the Sagrada Familia. Despite being unfinished, Gaudi’s masterpiece is thought of as one of the most magnificent cathedrals in the world. Even if you catch a day of rain (Barcelona only has an average of 55 wet days a year) a few hours at the Picasso Museum or the Barcelona FC museum will set you up before you head out to enjoy the thrills of Las Ramblas.
In spring, you’ll find a pleasant climate with temperatures bobbing around 20°C, ideal for enjoying one of the many festivals. The Alimentaria Barcelona celebrates the best in Spanish ingredients, or you could sample around 300 types of craft beer at the Barcelona Beer Festival usually held in March.
Festivals continue into the summer and the Barcelona weather is perfect for enjoying the energy of Primavera Sound, or indulging your love of outdoor cinema at Sala Montjuïc. Many of Barcelona’s museums hold Nits d’Estiu programmes in July and August too. All of this is before you even think about checking out the popular beaches at Barceloneta, or head away from the city to the calm of Ocata.
Heading in to autumn the weather in Barcelona stays pleasant. October temperatures average 18°C before dropping to around 13°C in November. It’s the wettest time of year though with around seven days of rain in October. To dodge the showers, you can indulge in fabulous boutique shopping in El Born Barrio, experience ultimate relaxation at one of the city’s many spas, or enjoy classical music in a magical setting at Palau de la Música.
Whatever the weather we will help you plan how to enjoy this fabulous city.
