Where to Go Out in Barcelona

Known as one of Europe’s best cities for nightlife, Barcelona has no shortage of great places for you to go in the evening.

Make Las Ramblas your first stop after dark. There are plenty of tapas bars along both sides of the street, with Irati Taverna Basca among the best. This spot is a locally respected institution where you can line your stomach for the night ahead with tasty bite-sized treats.

The Gothic Quarter is a short walk from Las Ramblas, putting you close to some of the best nightlife options in Barcelona. While most touristy options are in plain sight, local favourites are often hidden away in the tight alleys. Milk Bar is one of these gems, boasting an extensive menu of inventive cocktails.

If you want to see a flamenco show, head to Tarantos and see when the next performance is, or go to Port Olympic for an upmarket experience. This beach front district is home to the flashiest haunts in the city, so dress to impress if you want to get through the door at places like Pacha.

To party on the beach without damaging your bank account too much, head to a chiringuito. Snack bars by day that also serve alcoholic drinks, the action only heats up after the sun goes down. DJs start spinning their tunes, turning these humble spots into impromptu nightclubs under the stars.

Things change from one chiringuito to the next, so ask a friendly local if they know where the action’s going to be on a given night.
