Punta Cana – Weather

Punta Cana is nestled on the picturesque island of the Dominican Republic where its sandy shores are greeted by hot and humid temperatures all year round. There are two distinct seasons which will help you decide when is the best time to travel. The wet season runs from May to November while the dry season begins in December through April.

If you love swimming and taking part in water sports, you’ve come to the right place. The Caribbean Sea is always warm and inviting with an average water temperature of 29°C in summer. It never drops below 26°C, which makes it perfect for a refreshing swim or an afternoon of snorkelling along the glistening coastline.

Temperatures in Punta Cana are usually high throughout the year. The summer is extra hot, with highs of 32°C in July and August. It’s slightly milder in spring with highs of 27°C in April and May. Autumn weather is also very pleasant with a daily average of 30°C that drops to 25°C from December to February.

Rainfall is the main concern when it comes to deciding when to visit. Punta Cuna weather is quite damp in the summer with 89mm of rainfall in July and August. This increases to 128mm in September and around 110mm in October and November.
