In the popular Punta Cana region of the eastern Dominican Republic is Bávaro, a collection of stunning beach resorts with incredible coral reefs to explore. If you’re looking for ideas on what to visit during your holiday, you’ve got plenty of choices, both on land and under the waves! We’ve put together a list of some of our favourites, so here’s a selection of some of the top things to do in Bávaro.
Go on a watersports adventure
From windsurfing to snorkelling and scuba diving, the Bávaro area will keep adrenaline seekers more than satisfied throughout their holiday. See the awe-inspiring tropical fish and reef that thrive here, and don’t forget to bring a waterproof camera to snap some shots of the colourful wildlife. Many tours also include delicious lunches, round-trip hotel transfers and snacks, so all you have to do is concentrate on enjoying yourself! Try to include at least one of these tours on your list of Bávaro things to do.
Visit the Cave Oleg Bat House
Go on an exciting excursion to this remarkable cave, which has unique pot-holed ceilings and dramatic walls and tunnels that look like something from another planet. The Visit the Cave Oleg Bat House is a haven for millions of specially adapted shrimp, snails, worms and other critters, and is a great place to go diving, too. It’s in quite a remote area of Bávaro, roughly 30 to 40 minutes away from the resort by car, but the trek is certainly worth including on your list of things to do in Bávaro as well.
Spend some time at the Palma Real Shopping Centre
If you’re eager to get to the shops and buy some souvenirs, head over to the Palma Real Shopping Centre. It has plenty of fashion retailers and great places to eat out or grab a bite on the go. Watch a movie at the cinema, take your children to the kids’ zone, or have a drink at the café and lounge bar for a quick breather. This centre is at the Plaza Palma Real Shopping Village in Punta Cana and is accessible via a free shuttle.
Escape to the Indigenous Eyes Ecological Park
With twelve gorgeous lagoons shaped like eyes, a trip to this tropical paradise is one of the most popular things to do in Bávaro and the surrounding area. Luckily, this park never gets too busy, as it’s carefully preserved to protect the wildlife and plant life. Book a half-day excursion from 8.30am to 1pm so you can explore the beautiful trails and have a dip in the crystal-clear water of one of the lakes.
With so many exciting Bávaro things to do, this part of the Dominican Republic is the perfect tropical retreat for nature enthusiasts and beach lovers.
