Sleep Quality

Nice enough hotel but NOT a five star

May 2022 | jonathan R

Just come back from a weeks stay from this hotel where I paid for a five star stay but hotel was found lacking on several issues. First when we arrived at the hotel I carried our luggage half way to reception from the taxi before the porter came out and took over. There was no welcome drink or cool down flannel. The room a junior suite was everything that you would expect from a five star room apart from disposable plastic cups for the morning coffee, no fresh milk, poor standard of coffee and the hardest bed that I have ever had the misfortune to lie on, so hard it was like sleeping on the floor so pulled the sunbed in from the balcony and slept on that instead for the remainder of the stay. Bathroom was fabulous with a jacuzzi bath, his and her's sinks and rainfall double shower. The bathrobes were of a comfy size and was of good quality cotton but no slippers. Mini bar was topped up regular but no wine. The cleanliness of the hotel and decor could not be faulted but outside garden maintenance poor with too many weeds appearing on the edges of paths. Evening and daytime entertainment was nearly completely absent but due to poor sleep only attended one evening event as just got too tired. Went to a cocktail making event which when we arrived at the appointed time just didn't happen as there was no member of staff. Another moan was that it was very hit and miss on whether the food was hot but there was always food you could eat and when it was hot it was very tasty. Staff were friendly but alittle under engaging with their guests and there was no pool side service unless you were staying in The Level which seemed vastly overvalued at a additional 100e per couple per night. Another moan was there was no physical menus and you had to download from a QR code, when I enjoy leafing through a physical menu to find new drinks to have, cocktails I had tasted totally different to other 5 star resorts I have been to and I could only put that down to poor quality spirts being used. What sort of 5 star resort doesn't have port or sherry available. Prices in the hotel were expensive so its well worth taking the shuttle bus into the local town to pick up the usual gifts for example 20e for a hat, same one in town 4e Beer and wine were of OK quality and this is what we stuck to for the majority of the week . Wouldn't go back due to lack of sleep, a few adjustments would make all the difference and if they were a 3 star I would have rated them more highly but I judged them on being a five star and believe that it was found lacking

Definitely not a 5 Star hotel

Had a very enjoyable holiday , the staff are friendly and polite, the food was good if a bit repetitive. The one thing that annoyed was how TUI can rate this as a 5 star hotel , it is no where near that rating , to many minor faults and facilities are no where near 5 star . I would say more like 3 3/4 star But all in all we had a lovely time and would go back with lower expectations

Let down

This is not a negative about the hotel staff, they were great and can’t fault the clean appearance everywhere, that was immaculate, our suite was as expected, brill. But did expect a little daytime entertainment, even a game of boules/darts/ping pong, shish I would have been begging for karaoke !!! What got me was the flight crews and the debriefs they had in the restaurant. Heard all. The crews have their own dining area, stick to them. Don’t want to hear ‘their amusing’ accounts of passengers, basically taking the p… and being disrespectful to the people who pay their salary. No disrespect to the more mature crew but the young girls and boys need a training session, TUI listen. Overall, it was tooooooo realaxing. Would be a heap better if food was hot, yes I’m one of those that don’t do cold food if it’s meant to be hot, even if warm, serve hot, but I’m just finicky, so ignore, it’s just one opinion of a a brilliant selection provided. The partner adored all. There is enough room in this hotel for entertainment like I mentioned, you can only play so much cards and dominoes before one loses the plot. You do so much with cleaning and health and safety, don’t forget FUN!!!!!!!!!!!
