Morasol Suites is a waterfront apartment hotel on the edge of Puerto Rico's marina. It has an outdoor swimming pool for guests of all ages, plus a smaller pool for children. You can sit back in the rooftop whirlpool, which overlooks the yacht-lined marina and adjoining Atlantic Ocean. You could also dine at the hotel's restaurant, which is open for breakfast and dinner. If you're still feeling peckish, the poolside bar serves snacks and light meals from morning until late. Renovated in 2016, the hotel has a whitewashed exterior with glass balconies overlooking Puerto Rico. You can relax in the hotel's lobby, with its leather sofas and glass coffee tables. Rooms are decorated in light, neutral tones and have tiled floors, oak-coloured furniture and nautical-themed artwork on the walls. At Morasol Suites, you can prepare snacks and meals in your own kitchenette, perhaps with fresh ingredients from the local market. You'll also be within a short walk of restaurants, bars and cafÈs serving both local and international cuisine. If you fancy exploring Gran Canaria, you'll be within driving distance of the island's capital, Las Palmas, alongside its beaches, national park and the Bandama Caldera volcano, which can be found amid the vine-covered hills.

Morasol Suites is next to the marina, where you'll see yachts, glass bottom boats and wooden fishing vessels bobbing in the water. It's 400m from the nearest supermarket and 500m from the sands of Playa de Puerto Rico. You can also take a 1.2km walk to the Puerto Rico shopping centre. Further afield, it's 19km to the hilly sand dunes at Maspalomas and 20km to the resort's water park. You can drive 73km to Gran Canaria's capital, Las Palmas, where you'll find the historic Cathedral of Santa Ana, a bustling port and a modern art museum, plus the promenade-lined shores of Las Canteras beach.

There is a restaurant and two bars at the hotel, serving different meals, snacks and drinks.

During your stay at Morasol Suites you can play pool, book a massage, swim or enjoy the view from your apartment's balcony or terrace.

The apartments have a kitchenette with hotplates and a fridge. They also have Wi-Fi, a TV with local channels and air conditioning, plus a balcony or terrace.

Fabulous hotel

Fabulous hotel in a great location. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming and we had a lovely ground floor room near the pool. The roof terrace is great for sunbathing in the morning and great views. There is a supermarket which is cheaper then the Spa in the town which is out of the hotel turn left and through the arches. Also there is a greg bar called Durty Nelly's which has entertainment and delicious food. Would highly recommend this hotel, so thank you! Kath, John and Charlie

Perfect base to Explore

What can I say! The staff here have got to be the most polite, friendly and enthusiastic hospitality team I have ever experienced. Always on hand to help, never overly intrusive or overbearing. On arrival we were upgraded from a 1 bedroom to 2 bedroom apartment, much to our surprise. The apartment was spacious and impeccably clean. The team visited daily and kept the rooms, public spaces and gardens to a very high standard. We certainly had no concerns in our mind in relation to hygiene standards. The team also followed local government guidance in relation to COVID 19 and ensured all guests complied whilst utilising public spaces. Considering I have visited several hotels in the UK for work travel, I can say I felt at less risk to any illness here at Morasol Suites than anywhere in the UK. We never ate breakfast as we were self catering, however did have both food and drinks at the pool bar on 2 occasions. Cost was fair, service with a smile and a little local banter, and the food was delicious. My husband has Coeliac Disease and was delighted he could have a Gluten Free beer whenever he fancied. Location is great if you like to be a little away from the hustle and bustle of the central area. Perfect for us as a family, with a walk along to the small harbour or up to the centre within around 15 minutes. Maybe a little more like 20 to 25 minutes if you don’t have to chase after a speed walker and teenage boys. All in all a fantastic base to be able to get out and about and explore the island. We will certainly be recommending the hotel to family and hope to return one day.

Fab location, exceptionally clean

We stayed here (couple) in Nov 21. We had booked a self catering studio but were lucky to be allocated a 1 bedroom self catering suite with terrace. The suite was one of 6 in a gated section and had a garden area with 6 double plush day beds and 2 Jacuzzis. Our suite was 105. The suite was well appointed: separate bedroom with large wardrobe, lots of hangers, large flat screen tv (didn't use), dressing table with drawer/chair. Separate bathroom with large walk in shower, WC, sink, large mirror, small shaving mirror and a hairdryer. Lounge/kitchen/diner with sofa (converts to bed), table and chairs, 2 ring hob, extractor, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, Nespresso machine, blender, utensils etc. Second TV in lounge area which I did switch on - had BBC1, ITV and looked to have connections to Netflix, prime etc (but assume own subscription would be required - didn't test that). Outside their was a raised private terrace with table and chairs and then a couple of steps down to the gated garden. The cleaning was done daily to a very high standard. Beach towels provided and all towels changed in accordance with guest requirements. We didn't use many other facilities of the hotel (no food, drink etc) but those we did were great - reception was friendly and helpful and the roof top solarium had plenty of sunbeds, some comfy seating and a decent size hottub/Jacuzzi. The location of the hotel was great for us. Down in the harbour which is peaceful - a couple of minutes under the tunnel to a decent supermarket and a few restaurants/bars and then a few minutes walk in the other direction to the beach and all the restaurants there. The centre of the town (the shopping area etc) would have been about 25 mins walk but we took a taxi for about 3 euros. Conveniently placed for the ferry to Mogan etc. The only points of improvement for the hotel that I would suggest are: 1. The sliding doors to access the suite (105) was hard work - the doors were very heavy to move and were temperamental with the key card. It often took several tries to get in! 2. There are very few sockets in the room. Two which the TVs are plugged in to (1 bedroom, 1 lounge), one for the kitchen appliances, 1 for the lamp (lounge) and one high up above the kitchen cupboards that we could not reach! I had to unplug the TV to charge my phone and my husband unplugged the lamp. It would be handy to have a socket by the bed. 3. The Jacuzzi area outside our suite (105) is a bit exposed to passers by. There is a fence but the construction of it (metal bars) gives no privacy and is not very attractive. I think some coir matting or similar covering the fence would be an easy way to shield those using the Jacuzzis, daybeds and their terraces from the gazes of those walking by. These points are just constructive advice and did not in anyway spoil my experience at this lovely hotel. I would return and recommend to others. Thank you Team Morasol.
