Sorry to have to say this but beware of this hotel chain if you think you as guest are taking care of when you are injured at the hotels. We have waited a long time for a review with the hope of changing attitude to our problem but cannot wait any longer. The rating is entirely dependent on the attitude of the management not the hotel as such. Punta Marina is one of the hotels in Esmeralda Resorts in Fuerteventura. In our opinion the hotel is nice and suites us, a couple with age of the end of 60. But unfortunately this hotel does not take responsibility for accidents that are due to their own negligence. We, my wife and I, had booked 10 days at Punta Marina in February 2019. On the 2nd day we were going for a jog along the beach but didn´t get that far. We were going out the nearest path across the "back door" of the hotel towards the boardwalk. It was morning and the way out of the hotel slopes down and closed to the end of the path the slope increases. Adjacent pool area was made clean in the morning and it was also washed over the tile-covered walkway which became slippery as ice. One can expect to be warned of wet floors but not! The narrow passage is without railings and my wife slipped on the slippery steep part closest to the gate so badly that she got strong pains in the foot. We returned to our hotel room and informed the reception about what had happened. After just a few hours they put slip-protection tape on that part of the path. When the pain did not settle but was strengthened, we had to seek medical advice later that day. The doctor could detect bone fractures near the foot. We were asked (from Punta Marina) to contact the intermediary of the hotel service for handling the accident notification, even though the hotel was responsible for it.. We asked Esmaralda resorts to investigate if they had insurance coverage covering the loss of 8 of the days we could not take advantage of. They did but it turned out that their insurance did not give anything because of their negligence. The responsibility was entirely at the hotel. After that answer we are told that the hotel does not care if their guests are injured in the hotel even though it is because of mistake from the hotel. They didn´t even warned of the danger of slippery sloping floors. One apologizes but no more! The whole thing involved expensive medical expenses, both in Spain and Sweden but most negatively was not being able to use our holiday and the handicap with long-term rehabilitation until May. Other booked trips could not be used because of the long rehabilitation. We believe that the hotel has a responsibility and should replace us at least for lost days, but they don´t even for that. We are forced to try legal assistance to resolve the dispute, as the hotel is cold-minded and does not consider itself to have any part in the accident.

Price was reasonable but as low to expect such poor standards! Appalling - no hot water from around 8PM until the mornings !!! Came from town after beach later and could not take hot shower. Disgrace! Cockroaches, varying standards of cleaning, not nice lady at reception - telling us to take both key cards in case one stops working (instead of saying not to worry and call her if that happens !), asking to come to reception between 9:00-10:00am to sign some forms (!!!! I don't get up that early on holidays !!), unclear key collection instructions, back gates locked/key not working which meant going around half kilometre with shopping bags, smell (cigarettes?) at the apartment, fridge so loud it made it hard to fall asleep.

Read reviews of problems with accessing these apartments so I rang before I left England to gain keycode and this worked well - although it take a few phone calls to get through. They have got a web site so I would suggest contacting them by that method. The reception is only open 10:00 - 12:00 Mon-Sat. Not mentioned but it does have a good library for borrowing books. The complex does seem German biased (as does the resort) but found no problems, although maybe why the receptionist was not the most receptive of people . Apartments themselves were clean and cleaned every other day, the inside is on 3 levels lounge and terrace in the middle with kitchen and bathroom down and bedroom upstairs and all open plan. The terrace was nice with table and chairs and 2 sun loungers - a nice bonus. Unusually for us the weather was excellent for February and the sun shone on the terrace 10:00-15:00. The location is good close to the beach and restaurants in both Jandia and Morro Jable. Others have mentioned steep steps to the beach but there is a gated exit by the pool which is relatively flat which takes you down to beach level (actually to the back of the petrol station).
