Our first family visit to Sunny beach

Didn't know what to expect came with an open mind. Don't if we will ever return. Positive The reception staff gave us a warm welcome. The hotel itself was lovely and clean. Lifeguards kept a very close eye on everything. We felt safe, with lots of security doing regular checks and checking bands coming in. My kids loved all the slides, particularly the boat. Lots of communal floats to borrow we also left some. Bathrooms come with hairdryers, hand wash and shower gel. Rooms got a hover, fresh towels and beds made daily. 5-minute walk to flower street and the beach. Negatives The staff at the buffet were miserable and unhelpful. It put you off going. Only one out of about 12 people smiled or interacted with you. Clearing tables and sweeping underneath the kids while we were still eating was a big put-off. Food and drinks could be improved. On our first night, we walked into someone having beans on toast and I saw the reason why. Nothing that appetizing or nutritional. Although some salads they were loaded with oil. Some nice-looking tapas however it wasn't labelled. The coffee was disgusting. Fresh fruit wasn't cut up which isn't ideal when travelling with kids. The snack room was never busy so god nose how long the burgers and sausages were left lying. The breakfast was inedible. Beans and boiled eggs it was for 7 days. Bottled water was an extra and we had to use a filtered machine for water. What disappointed me was the fact the man at the spa said it was 15lev per day to use the gym and on the door, it said 10. So we didn't bother using it as it was also restricted to spa hours. The kid's activity centre was closed this season and this annoyed me. Travelling with two toddlers was why I booked this hotel. Booked it last minute and I feel this should be communicated to people. Smoking at the loungers at the pool. Choked in smoke on both sides, we had to keep moving. This is a big put-off for me.

Tale of two weeks

I don’t normally 5star reviews, but I felt this hotel needed it with some of the comments below. and it earned it during our stay. It was really a tale of two weeks, the first week, really hot and lovely, they’re three pools and water slides. We spent most of our time around the quiet pool at the front, which wasn’t busy, had lots of beds and drink facilities near. We did use the main pool sometimes, the pirate ship and slides sometimes, but these were busy compared to the quiet pool. Pool towels are provided and can be swapped out for new ones everyday 4-6. The food was nice, well presented and plenty to choose from, this hotel provides one of the best snack bars I’ve seen. The animation team are really good, the kids were upset to be leaving as they had bonded well with the girls there. The room is the same as our premier inn hotels, nice, clean and spacious. Cleaned every day and new towels given. The Turkish spa area is nice and cheap. We had a Turkish foam bath and they’re are really good and was really good with the kids, who loved it all. It is a short walk to the beach, plenty of places to eat and drink, we didn’t eat anything out of the hotel really but visited a few places for drinks and for 6 of us would cost around £10 for drinks. The Bulgarian people are really friendly and are always trying to encourage you to eat at their place, but they’re not really pushy. The curbs around Sunny Beach are really high and you will struggle with a scooter like we did, you can get round, but you really have to think your route. The second week was really quiet, must of only been around 100 people in the hotel and it rained really bad for nearly a week, which we was told is unheard of really. The kids club kept the children going. But not a lot was available for the adults. Sometimes we’d have shuffle board and darts. But these lasted around 30 mins each. The amount of food dished up was drastically cut, still nice, and lovely presentation, it just seemed a few items from the first week weren’t available due to the amount of guests. The staff are really friendly, a lot who speak English speak to you, but the ones who don’t know really try and not get involved with you, and that was fine with me, as it was hard to try and bridge the gap and get over what you’re after. Night time entertainment for the kids got a bit repetitive as the time went on, same songs and dances. We was in block C next to amphitheater which was really loud, but as soon as 10pm hit, it was all over and very quiet. A few improvements would make this hotel a fantastic hotel, more could be done during bad weather for entertainment, maybe the kids club could do games and stuff to involve the adults. A proper dartboard wouldn’t go amiss in the bar area, maybe adults only. They is 4 pool tables that were always busy during bad weather. The shuffle board could be left out, or a proper only for us to use. The pool toilets are really slippery when wet, and felt someone would fall over, so I mopped them regularly to try and prevent this. We loved this hotel and will be on our list to return sometime in the future.

We stopped here for 10 nights , 6 of us 4 adults 2 children we all enjoyed it. The splash park keeps the kids occupied have separate part for tolders. The kids club/ entertainers are brilliant work so hard to get everyone involved. They have mini disco for kids to, the food was pretty much same all though had a different meat/ fish each night they was something everyone enjoyed. Plenty of shops/ pubs the beach isn't that far either. The room was clean had fresh towels everyday keep up the good work the wheather wasn't great but still had a good time.
