Royal Son Bou Family Club
Club Royal Son Bou is a family-friendly hotel found on the south coast of the Balearic island of Menorca. Set against a backdrop of rocky hills, the hotel is steps from the beach and has views out across the Balearic Sea. It's built in a modern style with terracotta roofs and pastel exteriors that reflect local Menorcan style. There are nine buildings that circle the palm-lined garden and central pool area. Menorca is the most easterly island of the Balearics and is known for its sandy beaches, sheltered bays and traditional villages. An outdoor swimming pool is at the heart of the resort. It's surrounded by terraced sun decks that lead down from the hotel buildings to the pool's edge. Some of the decked areas are shaded if you want to take a break from the sun. There's a separate heated kids' pool with slides and a pirate ship to play on. At Club Royal Son Bou, you can choose to eat at any of the resort's three restaurants. In the hotel's lobby, which has traditional tiled floors and wooden features, you'll find a bar where you can relax with a cool drink. The hotel offers family-orientated entertainment every day, and you can take part in a range of sports. Children can be kept amused with games and activities, including face painting and dressing up, at the hotel-run kids' clubs. Outside of the resort, you can stroll along the long stretch of sand at Platja de Son Bou beach, or visit San Jaime Mediterráneo village with its bars, restaurants and shopping mall.
Club Royal Son Bou is 100m from Son Bou beach and within walking distance of the village centre of San Jaime Mediterráneo. Menorca's capital, Mahón, is found to the south east of the island, within driving distance of the hotel. It's a bustling port city and runs along a sheltered inlet from the sea. There are plenty of shops selling local souvenirs and produce, especially shoes, which the island is known for. The streets along the waterfront are lined with cafés, bars and restaurants where you can relax with a drink or enjoy typically Spanish dishes. Mahón's galleries and museums give you a taste of the culture and history of Menorca. You can extend your visit to Mahón into a day trip by driving north to S'Albufera natural park. Here, you can hike along trails and try to spot wildlife. At the village of Es Grau there's a beach with shallow waters that's particularly popular for paddling.
The hotel has two buffet restaurants and an à la carte restaurant, where you can enjoy international and Mediterranean cuisine. A children's buffet is also available. Cocktails, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks are available from the lobby bar or poolside bar. Supermarkets and local restaurants can be found within walking distance.
The hotel offers sports including tennis, football and aerobics. There are separate clubs for kids, juniors and teens, as well as a games room and mini disco.
Apartments at Club Royal Son Bou are bright and airy, with homely décor. All feature a balcony or terrace, a kitchenette, air conditioning, satellite TV and Wi-Fi.
