VERY DISAPPOINTING!

We booked an all inclusive 10 day family holiday at Victoria Playa in Menorca based on the 4 star rating given by TUI and all the positive reviews we read online. To say we feel mislead is an understatement. We arrived at the hotel to very abrupt reception staff and noticed that there was a sign saying 3 stars outside the front door. Far from the 4 star experience TUI promised. The hotel staff say they will become a 4 star next year but already have a sign behind reception saying they are 4 star as well as a laminated wine list in the dining room stating the hotel is 4 star. In our view they need to do a huge amount of work to get to 4 star standard. The bedrooms are extremely small, walls and furniture are marked and toilet seats were very worn. There was only one socket in the bedroom and the Wi-Fi was terrible. The beds were very basic and small. The rooms were a stark contrast to the TUI photos. They are extremely tired and outdated with almost no sound insulation. We also had rooms just above the bins which were collected early every morning. One morning we made the mistake of opening the balcony door and had an influx of rubbish stench into the room. It was also next to the staff break area and delivery area so we endured loud noise whilst in the room. The bed sheets were very marked. In terms of the food, it was very bland. You could get fresh bread and nice fruit but that was about it. It is a complete free for all at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Parents don’t supervise their small children so you get children handling the food and making a huge mess. No intervention or supervision by staff who all just stood back and watched. There was no/very limited air conditioning in the communal areas of the hotel including the dining area. The noise and heat were unbearable. It became an endurance to eat in the dining room and impossible to have a conversation due to the noise. The juice available consisted primarily of water and was very variable in terms of concentration. There were staff frying meat and fish in the dining area but they did not know what type of food they were cooking so couldn’t say when asked what it was. The lack of knowledge and care when cooking the food was reflected in the very tough/dry tasteless food cooked up. The restaurant staff however were polite. The all inclusive drinks were heavily watered down and snacks were very limited. For example pink paste sandwiches! The pool area was filthy and the water cloudy. They have a list of pool rules but none of them are observed or enforced. The “highlight” was when a fully clothed guest jumped into the pool with a glass of sangria. The hotel staff again did nothing about this. We only swam once in the pool in our first day in the whole of our stay given how dirty it was. We have two boys and both were keen to play table tennis but the table was very worn out and the bats unusable. The beach was beautiful with very crystal clean water and perfect sand so we would come back to the area for the beach but would never stay in this hotel again. It is a total disgrace to suggest it is anything close to a 4 star. Shame on TUI and also the Victoria Playa for trying to pretend it is something that it clearly is not. We were definitely mislead into booking this hotel as we would not have stayed in it had we known the reality of awaited us also given the price we paid for it.

Noisy, dirty, poky with interior-quality food.

I suppose hotel ratings are subjective and a lot about expectations. I booked the Stil Victoria Playa via TUI from the UK and, to cut a long story short, thought I would be staying at a 4-star place (which is what the TUI rating indicated) while the reality was more like a 3-star hotel that is on the verge of being downgraded. The place was noisy (113 decibels in the “restaurant”), dirty (you couldn’t see the pool’s floor) and poky (it felt like having to open the door to turn around in the room). I won’t even go into the food (dishes like “onion ring tempura”, “chicken butts” and a “lasagna” advertised as containing “all allergens” are just random examples). By analogy, I was expecting an M&S to Waitrose hotel and the place was a non-name corner shop selling inferior-quality basics, but at premium prices. Sant Tomàs is a great location - if you go there on holiday, do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else!

Amazing first holiday abroad with my daughter

Stayed for 5 nights from July 21st, I wish I had booked longer but this was the first time I had taken my 7 year old daughter away alone so needed to see if I could cope. The hotel was lovely, clean throughout, food amazing, pool area's lovely. The only negative is the air con in the room, does need to be improved especially when it is 37d outside. The room is a bit dated but still spotlessly clean. The area is very quiet which is great when not wanting to spend too much money, the beach is 20 yards from the hotel, the beach and sea is just beautiful. Myself and my daughter would have definitely have gone back next year but they are changing it to adult only, why I do not know know but it's probably to make more money which is a real shame as yes there was lots of children but it was such a nice friendly atmosphere which you do not find at many places. Thank you Victoria Playa for making memories that will last a lifetime for my daughter and I and I wish we could come back. Maybe in 11 years.
