Perfect for families

We found this resort by chance after searching desperately for something that had everything we wanted in a holiday. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we had an incredible experience and one our family will treasure for a lifetime. Our accommodation was in block D, a slight incline from the main resort, but it became a familiar walk and the hotel make you very aware before you book about the distance to some of the rooms. In truth, it’s not that far at all and not an inconvenience. The pool is perfect for those with older or younger children as it is split into two and perfect for our kids who are not the most accomplished swimmers, but not afraid to jump in. You also have the option of the splash park which, to be honest, I enjoyed as much as the kids. It isn’t huge, but if you get the passes for it, you can visit when you please. A very short distance is the real masterpiece of the whole resort. The beach is a beautiful and well protected bay of two beaches split in half by some rocks that you can climb some stairs over, or swim around. It is very shallow for at least 40-50m away from the beach which meant we could happily watch our young kids play in the water without fear of suddenly disappearing underneath the waves! If you want a tip, wade through to the other beach where there is sometimes a fruit stand and 10m back from the beach, a small trail, home to terrapins and other small wildlife. We chose the half-board option, you won’t be disappointed as each breakfast and evening the buffet was varied and fresh. There is a good mix for all ages a highlight was watching the kids try to drown one evening in the chocolate fountain! The Waiter staff were so friendly and loved to mess about with the kids, it felt like you were in their living room and they would do everything to help you. There are other restaurants outside of the resort if you want to mix it up. Worth checking when these are open as the hours vary between each one. A local supermarket is just outside the resort and it has everything you need to keep the family fuelled and entertained. If you fancy trips out then Menorca has so much to do. We chose to visit Fornelles port to see the harbour, shops and restaurants and Torre de Fornells. We also found a really cool night market in Es Mercadal which hosted a mixture of food, fashion and jewellery as well as a local band playing in the square. It was great but the night market does travel around the island so best to check which town it is in. Hiring cars is mega expensive at the moment, so we used local taxis organised by the reception staff. All of the staff we came across in the resort, whether in the bars, on site restaurant, the room attendants, the lifeguards and in reception were brilliant, I thank them all, they all went above and beyond. You can probably tell that we enjoyed our holiday, we did, the resort made it special,

First family holiday for grandchildren

Jun 2022 | ladymobbie

First holiday with grandchildren. We were a party of 6, two grandchldren 5 and 8 ,two parents and two grandparents .After being let down by tui and cancelled 2days before departure we felt lucky to get a holiday at short notice. I would recommend hiring a car as this resort is a little out of the way although a bus does stop out side. Downsides great disapointment for the grandchildren as no entertainment in the evening for children or adults and you had to pay extra for the waterpark .Also besides that the Martel restaurant closed about 5or 6 pm and there were only about 4 restaurants that opened in the evening and seemed quite expensive for a family. We would have needed two taxis to get into Fornells at about 7 euros each way per taxi. The apartments were up a hillside which is not great for those with mobility issues but was a great work out for us as there was no working gym just some equipment in a locked room that was covered in overgrown vegetation. Positives. The rooms were lovely and clean and modern with a small kitchenette. Towels were changed regularly and we had great views of the bay. There was a supermarket and small shop on site and we often bought food for lunch which we ate outside our rooms. The bay is lovely with two sandy beaches which are very safe for little ones as the water is shallow. The pools are in the complex are large and clean with separate areas for little ones. We thought the food in the evening was very good. Not always piping hot but well cooked with an excellent variety and show cooking. The breakfasts were equally good and we never went hungry. There was a terrace for outside eating with views of the bay. You could also hire canoes etc from the complex and there was crazy golf and a football court. You can use the Carema gardens pool which is quieter and might be more suited to those without children, All in all we had a great first time holiday and a special shout to Fran ? hope I got the name right in the dining room who made it fun for all of us.

Disappointed with food availability in resort

Jun 2022 | Willca

Very disappointed, won't be mean and leave 1 star however there are areas that deserve 1 star and areas that deserve 4 stars. OK let's start with the bad- we are a group of 9. Six of us are half board, 3 self catering among us, one has autism hence self catering and the hotel is so unaccommodating to our situation. You can't buy a sandwich or a pizza, you must pay €19 to enter the buffet which would be fine but you can't leave restaurant with food and there are sensory issues at play with dozens of smells etc...... This is our biggest disappointment. And recognise this would not be a problem for most. You can not leave the restaurant to move outside with your wine although same resort. The service is so slow. Aircon hit and miss. No nightly entertainment as advertised (other than kids disco). There is a bar grill, food is lovely but no adjustment to the menu (again fine for most) but not helpful in our situation. Positives : My key broke in the door and after a visit to reception was fixed in minutes. Pool is so central, perfect for kids, can see from every pool sunbed. Staff are so friendly. Proximity to the beach-fantastic. Ideal for quiet holiday with very young children and early nights. We're here for 4 and 6 more days! Hope things improve
