Great for the Price (only gripe is with On the Beach Dot Com)
THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING. THERE ARE NO ACTIVITIES PROVIDED AT ALL. THERE IS NO POOL BAR OR RESTAURANT. THE RECEPTION OFFICE IS DISUSED AND IS LOCKED UP. KEYS HAVE TO BE COLLECTED FROM LOS LENTICOS COMPLEX 500 YARDS DOWN THE ROAD. Myself and wife stayed here in May 2022. Very quiet location. The apartment was clean and well equipped. 1970's era development. The exterior is a little jaded but the interiors have recently been done up. Getting the key to the apartment is a real cock-eyed arrangement. No instructions from our third party holiday provider (On the Beach Dot Com) at all. We arrived at the complex and yes there is a reception office. It is locked up though and covered in dust and cobwebs when you look through the window. Luckily we managed to find another tourist who told us we had to register our passports and collect the key to our apartment from the reception at another complex 500 yards down the road...Los Lenticos. Some instructions on this would have been nice. I found myself helping some Italian tourists who turned up mid-week not knowing how to get their apartment keys. Apartment Details: Kitchen - A new fridge freezer, microwave, toaster and two ring electric hob. Lots of cupboard space. They provided a new bottle of washing up liquid, a dishcloth and a tea-towel (many thanks.....this was much appreciated). Couple of saucepans, frying pan, two pyrex dishes and limited cutlery provided. No corkscrew, tin opener didn't work, no spatula for frying eggs for example. We always take our own corkscrew/ bottle opener and a decent small chopping knife with us in the hold luggage from hard experience of self-catering. There was a bread knife. Plenty of crockery. No mugs though just cups and saucers. Bathroom - Large bathroom quite modern. Lovely big corner bath in the bathroom with a jacuzzi as part of it with a shower hose over the bath. Hairdryer on the wall. Sink and toilet. Toilet paper provided (two rolls). I asked the cleaning lady for some extra and she said no problem. Two large towels and two hand towels provided. Hot water always on tap. Bedroom - Well not really a bedroom but fenced off from the living room by a freestanding wooden partition which made this a 'studio' apartment. I'd paid the extra fifty odd quid to On the Beach Dot Com to have a one-bedroomed apartment and we ended up with the standard studio apartment (On the Beach you can leave your customer service phone number on answer-machine for so long but I WILL get my fifty odd quid back one way or the other). I tried asking the nice receptionist at Los Lenticos about this and she said that apartment was all they had to offer, the others were all booked up. Two single beds which were quite new. Spotless bed linen. Large wardrobe. Two bedside tables with lamps. Living Room - Settee (that converts into a bed with another pull out bed beneath it), sideboard, flat screen tv with all Spanish language channels. No BBC or any other English channels. Dining table and four chairs. There is no air-conditioning. A plug in electric fan is provided in the apartment. We didn't need air con in May but it will probably get very hot in July and August. Balcony - Plastic table and three chairs. Foldable plastic airer to dry stuff on. Pool - Very clean with fairly new sun loungers. Not what you would call a big pool. Residents staying here can use the much larger Los Lenticos pool 500 yards down the street. Complex Facilities - Other than the pool and sun loungers none at all. No bar, no restaurant, no kids activities. Residents of Cabo de Banos are allowed to use Los Lenticos facilities (500 yards down the street) which has a much bigger pool and a bar/ restaurant. Local Facilities - Supermarkets within walking distance but pricey. If you have a hire car there is a Lidl supermarket 10 mins drive away. Also an Eroski supermarket 5 mins drive away. Lots of souvenir and beach stuff shops nearby. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. A pint of Estrella Damm lager ranges from 2.50 to 3.50 Euros from the local restaurants. I was buying one litre glass bottles of beautiful Spanish lager for 0.75 Euros a bottle from Lidl (at 35 pence a pint who can argue with that). Petrol averages 2.02 Euros a litre. We paid £125 for a weeks hire car (Fiat Panda) online before we flew out. Overall - The apartment was very clean when we moved in. The cleaning ladies are hardworking and very nice. Conclusion - Would I stay here again? Yes. This a cheap range self-catering holiday and if you want five star then you need to speak to your bank manager about that. I wouldn't come here if I had kids. It is too quiet for families. Mainly Spanish people on holiday here. Thank goodness we had a hire car though as there are only a couple of very small and overcrowded beaches within walking distance within rocky inlets (cala's). The beach at Sant Tomas (20 mins drive away) is lovely. Not much else to do within walking distance. Bus services seemed regular but we didn't use them.
Hmmmmmm
So,booked a week here with my partner and the location, views were really good, you have to drive past a strip that can only be classed as menorcas Benidorm!! Which was slightly concerning, but that didn't affect our holiday. The apartments themselves seemed very spanish and we didn't see or hear a single brit all week, which isn't a bad thing, although we found the talk rather loud!! The area had it's very quiet moments and not so quiet moments which I expect you get anywhere! Everyone is harping on about these ants, well funnily enough it is spain and it's hot!!?? Just get a bit of any spray and brush them into a corner, had to do that twice in a week so no bother unless you want the Ritz...stay at the bloody Ritz!! Stayed in room 32 which was right in front of the sea, amazing views although I think all the rooms pretty much had some sort of sea view. Try and request the block on its own at the front where you will get the full sunset aswell, these apartments were numbered 40,41 etc. There are good supermarkets with everything you need nearby and we spent many days and nights in the port city Ciutadella which is absolutely gorgeous, one of the best cities I have visited ever, with an amazing port, boats stacks of restaurants and good food. Enjoy.
Great value for money.
First THE BAD...cleanliness could have been better, the sun loungers hadn't been cleaned for a while and there were some cigarette butts in the garden. Only two toilet rolls were provided, a bit tricky to make last a week! We had to buy more, as well as soap. Just one bar of soap would have been nice. It's a self service apartment, but some basic necessities could have been provided at little cost. The internet cost 15 euros for a week and was a bit shaky. Fortunately, THE GOOD, far outweighs THE BAD. There is a large Jacuzzi, which easily accommodates two adults. There is a terrace, with a table and chairs and two sun loungers. There is a good sized pebbled garden, which is well lit at night by a fetching lamp. The view from the terrace is very impressive, looking out to Majorca and along the coast line. Watching the sun go down with a cold drink was a real pleasure, with some amazing sunsets. The apartment is a good size, with a good sized bedroom area. The beds were firm with good quality pillows. Sleep quality is very good, with thick walls separating apartments. The wardrobe is large, but the top shelf was very high up. On the same subject, the shower head holder and the bathroom towel holder were very high up. The maintenance man who installed these things must have been eight feet tall! A bit odd and if you're on the short side something worth considering before you book. The kitchen facilities were basic, but OK. The TV had some British channels, which was better than most European hotels I've been too. The Receptionist that booked us in is worth a mention, perhaps the best I've come across. Very friendly, helpful and professional. We tried the pool, but it was a bit cold, it might be OK in July and August! All in all, great value for money. We paid £30 per night, amazing value. You would be very hard pushed to find an apartment which has this much space, large garden and terrace with amazing views and spacious Jacuzzi, for the price, in the whole of Europe.
