Lovely family holiday
Stayed for a week with our 3 year old for our first family holiday and really enjoyed it. Check-in was quick and easy and we were given all the information we needed by friendly receptionist. Our Spanish is awful but all the staff speak multiple languages to make things easier! The room was clean, modern and had a small fridge to keep drinks and snacks in so we could stay in the room with the little one at night and still enjoy a cold beer :) Food was nice. Never had anything cold or raw. Don't expect British dishes and chips but why would you in Spain? If you miss any of the main meals the snack bar is constantly fully stocked and there's an ice cream machine you can help yourself to all day. The bar was always a queue system so nobody is served before you, unless you're trying to jump the queue! The main pool area is great for kids, and you can get armbands from the shop little shop. There are other smaller pools dotted around the hotel that seemed more peaceful. Location was perfect. Easy to get to the beaches and harbour. There was a good mix of nationalities and mostly families and couples that gave it a more relaxing vibe. Would definitely book the Sol Falco again.
Not a 4 star
Spent 10 days at this hotel. Not our first choice but after several changes to our booking due to Covid, this one seemed to meet our requirements. We visited this resort 30+ years ago with our children and was keen to see the development. This time it was just my husband and me. On arrival we were allocated a room on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool area. There was no lift and no one to assist with our luggage. When we got to the room we found the noise from the pool activities to be so loud we thought the speaker was in the room! We went back to reception to ask if there was a quieter room available. Natalia was really helpful and found us one straight away. Positives The hotel is in a good location with two beaches and a marina within a short walking distance. A Bus stop directly outside the hotel. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean. The room was very clean with a really good hot shower. Decent size fridge in the room which would accommodate a large water bottle. Plenty of pools to choose from with a lovely pool with water slides and sprinklers for the children. Lifeguards on duty at each pool. Plenty of daytime activities if you wanted to join in but you weren’t pestered by the animation team if you didn’t. Evening entertainment good As we didn’t travel with children I can’t comment on the entertainment for them but we did see a kids club/entertainment on several evenings. Negatives We travelled with Tui- no rep or information board/files available. Everything done via an app. Being old school I prefer to deal with people face to face. There is a charge for in room safe. We have stayed in other 4* hotels where this is free. Information at check-in could have been a bit better. It took 2 separate visits to reception to find out about the safe and pool towels. Whilst this is not a major problem it it would make more sense to have this explained when checking in. No tea/coffee facilities in room. Although we were all inclusive, as an early riser I like to have a cuppa when I wake without having to get dress to find one. The biggest negative was the food and drinks. If you like warm, this is the place for you. The food was warm- sometime cold or raw in the centre, the drinks in the restaurant were warm. If you like hot or cold, eat else where. Food repetitive and drinks machines in the restaurant not alway working. Would we go again? To the resort yes but not not this hotel.
Great hotel for a family holiday
My wife and I stayed at the Sol Falco with our daughter, husband and two children aged 3½ years and 20 months. We chose the hotel because it was all-inclusive, near the beach, had family rooms and swimming pools for the children. We were not disappointed. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner in the restaurant every day and, unlike some previous reviewers, we were happy with the food. Inevitably for a hotel that has to cater for different nationalities, there will be food that doesn't always appeal but the choice was good enough for us to enjoy every single meal that we ate. We had no instances of food having gone cold. The rooms were everything that we had hoped for and they were cleaned perfectly every day. The swimming pools were very good. Yes, one or two were quite deep but there was a one foot deep pool for the younger child and slides into a larger pool for the elder one, who enjoyed going down these with her father. We used these every day and the children thoroughly enjoyed them. The staff throughout the hotel were excellent and we were particularly impressed with the staff on reception. We had to call on their help for a couple of issues and they responded brilliantly each time. It was a short walk, about 200 yards, to the nearest beach and we went there every morning. It was a nice, sandy beach and both girls enjoyed their time in the sea, the first time for the younger child. My wife and I caught a bus into Ciutadella one morning for only €2.10. It only took 30 minutes and we had a really enjoyable time walking round this lovely town and its harbour. There is a marina in Cala en Bosch and we all walked there one morning. Even with the children, it only took 20 minutes or so. It is a very pleasant area and we had coffee and soft drinks while we were there. All in all, the Sol Falco is an ideal place for a family holiday with young children. We were there in September, so most children were very young like ours and they all appeared to be having a great time. We would certainly recommend it to anyone with a young family.
