Fontanellas Playa Aparthotel is a beachfront hotel in Playa de Palma, a popular holiday resort on the southern shores of Majorca, one of the Balearic Islands in Spain. The hotel is steps away from Playa de Palma, where you can swim in the calm waters of the Balearic Sea, and is within driving distance of the island capital of Palma de Majorca. Here, you can visit the Gothic seafront cathedral, explore the narrow alleys and cobbled streets of Palma's Old Town, or try some Spanish specialities at a seafront restaurant. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool surrounded by a relaxation area that overlooks Playa de Palma beach, and a heated indoor pool. You can maintain your fitness regime in the hotel gym or opt to relax in the spa. During the summer months, the hotel arranges water-based activities and hosts evening entertainment. Fontanellas Playa Aparthotel has two bars where you can enjoy soft and alcoholic drinks throughout the day and evening. The hotel has two restaurants, a buffet restaurant and an a la carte option. The buffet restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner, while the a la carte serves meals during lunch and dinner time. Both of the restaurants specialise in Mediterranean cuisine.
Fontanellas Playa is a steps from Playa de Palma, a sandy stretch bordered by the Balearic Sea, and is an 11km drive to the centre of Palma de Majorca. From the hotel, you can walk along the seafront promenade, which stretches from the resorts of Can Pastilla to S'Arenal. Along the way, you can relax on the Blue Flag-certified Cala Estancia beach. For a family-friendly day out, you can visit the nearby water park or spend the day shopping for designer clothes at FAN, a shopping mall in the centre of Palma de Majorca.
You can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at one of the two hotel restaurants or opt to eat out at a restaurant on the beachfront. Local Majorcan specialities include seafood paella, a rice-based dish with chorizo and squid, or freshly caught seafood served with fried potatoes.
You can visit one of the hotel bars or head to Playa de Palma, home to bars and clubs that stay open until the early morning.
Rooms at Fontanellas Playa are bright and fresh with light wooden furnishings. All come with air conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi and satellite TV.

Lovely hotel but not for us
Lots of positives and I’ll explain why not for us. Positives- close to airport. Literally 10 mins in taxi. Bus number 25&35 into Palma €2 each and the bus stop is literally 2 mins from hotel. Aquarium 5 min walk from hotel. Brilliant supermarket attached to hotel. Right on the beach. We had a one bed seaview apartment on 3rd floor. It was modern, clean and most things including a decent size fridge. Stunning views. We went bed & breakfast. Breakfast was ok. Ample food. Think all inclusive type breakfast. Serving staff in restaurant and bar absolutely brilliant. Cleaners also good. The resort itself was quiet but it was February. We walked all the way to Arenal and walked the opposite way past the marina and carried on. Where we found a nature park that passes the end of the airport runway. Negatives - TV x 2 in room. One in bedroom one in lounge. The only uk channel is sky news and that hardly worked. Normally wouldn’t bother but as it was February probably spent more time than normal in our room. It says smart tv but it’s not. Hairdryer in bathroom has the shortest cord I’ve ever seen. It was hilarious trying to dry my hair whilst kissing the wall! If you have noisy upstairs neighbours it literally sounds like they’re coming through the ceiling. And unfortunately we had what sounded like a family of 50 up there. They would wake at around 5 am start running around. They’d still be doing it all afternoon it was exhausting. This next one is kind of down to us we should have gone adult only but didn’t. But we ate 2 evening meals in the dining room as the weather was rubbish. It was literally like kids gone wild. Trying to eat. Trying to get your food whilst kids played let’s run around the dining area and scream A LOT. My disappointment came that the hotel don’t enforce some rules when people are eating. I watched kids pick up food put it on their plate then put it back. Staff/chefs carrying hot food to replenish a station literally dodging kids. There are a lot of older guests with mobility issues and my heart was in my mouth most of the meal. We planned on doing 3 evening meals but 2 was enough as I couldn’t relax. Same in the bar area the staff are like ballerinas carrying trays of drinks whilst kids run around playing chase. I sat on a sofa whilst hubby went to bar and some random child dived on the sofa and over the back like a mini jack reacher being chased by his new found holiday buddies. So a great family hotel but not a quiet couple’s hotel. The evening shows were ok but again the kids played balloon chase whilst the singer was on.
Excellent!
Absolutely excellent hotel, one of the best I've stayed in. Food in restaurant exceptional, could not fault anything at all. Spotlessly clean in all areas. Staff friendly and helpful. Totally recommended.
Nice Hotel, however staff were sometimes rude
We visited with friends in March. The hotel itself and the rooms are very nice, and it is in a good location, near a number of great bars and restaurants. The only downside was the reception staff, who we often found unhelpful and actually intimidating.
